Before you can catch your breath from Christmas shopping, it is time to stock up on Chinese New Year goodies. It isn’t Chinese New Year until evergreen CNY tunes blast through mall speakers while you power-shop through stacks of dried goods, festive decorations and of course, delicious CNY goodies.

This year, spring comes early in January and Chinatown Point is prepared to entertain and reward you as you tote up the receipts. Whether you spend $30* or $268*, there’s a reward for every shopping tier.

And at the end of your spree, there’s also an opportunity to do good and give to charity.

Be sure to check out the Spring Fair located at the Indoor Atrium on L1 of Chinatown Point.

Located at the heart of Chinatown, Chinatown Point is the perfect place to stock up on CNY necessities.

Top on the list to check out is the Spring Fair, where you can pick up Taiwanese treats and festive décor items. Then there is the Gold Bar challenge where you’ll win $188* cash if you can lift a 10kg gold bar
out of a tiny hole within 60 seconds. As you accumulate spending at Chinatown Point, make sure that you redeem your rewards and contest tickets at the registration counter at the Indoor Atrium, on level one!

Here are the details for the different spending tiers.

When you spend $30

Do your kids tend to complain when you bring them shopping? Here’s a great way to keep them occupied and all psyched up for CNY: festive craft workshops. From adorable Fortune Cat and Lion Dance Cookies to Chinese couplets (chunlian) to customised hongbao holders, there’s bound to be a
craft workshop that will get your child into the festive spirit.

All you need is to spend $30^ in a single same-day receipt to register your child for a Festive Craft Workshop. There are four of them and you want to be among the first 100 (only 25 shoppers per workshop) to pre-register on Jan 6. Pre-registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. So be sure to head to Chinatown Point early to do your shopping.

Jan 11 (Sat), 2-5pm

Couplets (Chunlian) Making Workshop
Jan 12 (Sun), 2-5pm

Lion Dance Cookies Making Workshop
Jan 18 (Sat), 2-5pm

Fortune Cat Cookies Making Workshop
Jan 19 (Sun), 2-5pm

All the workshops will be conducted in the same space, opposite of Universal Traveller on L2.

^Pre-registration has started on 6 Jan 2020 on a first-come, first-served basis. Limited to the first 25 participants per day. Children must be present on the day to participate in the workshop. Please register at the concierge counter on level 2.

When you spend $88

Want to inspire hongbao envy when you go visiting? For those lucky enough to be distributing hongbao instead of receiving them, collecting the new year’s latest designs can bring one untold gratification. Chinatown Point’s hongbao come in three lovely colours this year.

Receive a pack of exclusive hongbao with a minimum spend of $88* over a maximum of three same-day receipts.

Not all red packets have to be red. Vermilion and fuchsia are stunning too.

When you spend $268

Gorgeous hongbao require an equally elegant pouch to hold them when you bai nian. Spend and redeem a minimum of $268* (over a maximum of three same-day receipts) to redeem an exclusive fabric hongbao holder, available in carmine red and royal violet – perfect for complementing your CNY wardrobe.

Choose between two gorgeous coloured fabric hongbao holders.

When you spend $268, you’ll also get to sign up for the Gold Bar Challenge, where contestants who can retrieve a 10kg gold bar from the showcase within 60 seconds will stand to win $188 in cash. Eight of the fastest contestants during the contest period will be shortlisted for one Grand Final round, where one winner will take home $1,888 cash. Terms and conditions apply.

The first round of the game happens between Jan 10 and 18, and the Grand Final is on Jan 19 when eight shortlisted contestants will go toe to toe with one another.

Impress your guests with an impressive array of snacks from Taiwan and Singapore at the Spring Fair. You’ll find King of Peanuts, gourmet Eureka Popcorn, Gin Thye cookies, unique beverages such as soursop tea and unusual décor and crafts from Kidforte.

Roving God of Fortune
Receive blessings from the God of Fortune as he traipses through the mall on these dates.

Festive performances
Can’t stand the refrain of piped dong dong dong chiang tunes, but love the CNY atmosphere? You’ll probably enjoy live Chinese orchestral music much more. Revel in the spirit of the season with live CNY music as a three-piece Chinese orchestra roves around entertaining shoppers in Chinatown Point on these dates.

Wishing Tree at Indoor Atrium

Hang your wish on the Wishing Tree while doing charity at the same time.

After raking in all that good luck and fortune in the Year of the Earth Pig, let’s share our goodwill and wish for even better things for the Year of the Metal Rat. Write your wish on a card and hang it on the Wishing Tree and may your wishes come true! Each wishing card costs $2 and all proceeds go to the Kreta Ayer Seniors Activity Centre.
