VIVO NEX 3 is the current flagship phone model for the company and we have tested it for a month before writing this review. For those looking for an Android alternative comparable to the likes of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro but prefer a different brand, this is an alternative worth considering. Here are nine solid reasons to get the Vivo Nex 3 if you are an Android user in Singapore.
The Vivo Nex 3 is beautifully sculpted and is made of a combination of glass and aluminium fused together seamlessly. It has a premium feel to it and definitely looks like a flagship phone.
Even the packaging is a work of art with the glass-like ring design on the cover and the way it unboxes:
The Vivo Nex 3 is one of those phones that you would like to parade around and a conversation starter when your friends see you whipping it out to snap a picture or answer a call.
The Vivo Nex 3 boasts a notch-free waterfall display with the industry’s highest screen-to-boy ratio at 99.7%. For those who hate notches and like your screen extra large and maximised, this is the phone to get.
This has got to be the biggest selling factor for this Vivo flagship phone. It feels totally awesome and luxurious when you are watching your favourite Netflix show on the screen:
The new 6.89 inches POLED Waterfall FullView Display stretches the smartphone screen beyond limits with flawless curved edges that flow with sleek elegance. Nex 3’s screen extends along two sides, and the dual, curved, borderless design provides users with broader views and a more immersive visual experience.
This is achieved by tucking the front camera into a pop-up version, getting rid of the ugly notch in the process.
The rear camera system for the Vivo Nex 3 consists of a main, 64-megapixel sensor, paired with a 13-megapixel telephoto and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide sensor to give you the best macro, telephoto and wide-angle shots. That’s the equivalent of three different kind of changeable lens that goes with a full DSLR camera kit, all tucked into a pocket-size piece of equipment. Neat.
The front-facing pop-up selfie camera has a 16-megapixel sensor and LED flash. For those who may be worried about the response time, we tested it multiple times and it is seamless.

Sometimes, innovations can be gimmicky and seems good in theory, but give a crappy user experience when you actually interact with them.
The curved screen edge was a cause of concern for me with regards to incidental touches, but it turned out to be a non-issue. Same with the buttonless, sliding volume control. Once you get used to them, there is no turning back.
Same with the pop-up front camera which enabled the notch-free design. It works seamlessly when I needed it, so much so that I don’t even notice it. The best kind of innovations are those that work quietly in the background without you even noticing it.
Going totally bezel-less is definitely a neat feature, however, this cannot be at the expense of functionality. On this note, the Vivo Nex 3 delivers and the experience has been intuitive. Trust me, you won’t be missing your buttons!
The Vivo Nex 3 provides competitive computing performance and smooth multitasking capabilities with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor (the best and latest from Qualcomm). You get great value for your money with the high-end technical specifications of the Vivo Nex 3.
The Vivo Nex 3 features a massive 4,500mAh battery unit. That’s on par with Huawei’s Mate 30 Pro, the industry’s gold standard for battery life among flagship phones.
We were able to go without charging for more than a day during our month of usage. The phone also supports fast charging at up to 44W. This means you will be able to fully charge your battery from zero in about an hour.
The Vivo Nex 3 comes with a lush protective cover in the box so you don’t have to source for a phone protective cover separately. This is a plus point for me definitely as it saves me the hassle.
The Vivo Nex 3 retails at $1299 (without contract) through any major operating telco – including M1, Singtel and StarHub. Great value for a flaship phone model.
