For Singapore’s 54th birthday, Grab is partnering with homegrown brands to take us back to old-school Singapore with 1965-inspired flavours and limited edition swag items. Their #Delivering1965 campaign sees new food items from LiHO Tea, Mr Bean, BreadTalk, and even Cathay Cineplexes!
We got to check out Grab’s curated menu and learn more about the campaign at the media preview last week. Fortunately for you, that means we’ve rounded up all the best GrabPay and GrabFood deals right here:
As up-to-date foodies will already know, LiHO Tea’s Avocado Coffee Smoothie, which combines two of the most popular Singaporean hawker drinks, was launched earlier this month in conjunction with Singapore Food Festival 2019.
It may not exactly be a fresh launch, but GrabPay makes it available at S$5.90, with a dollar off from its usual price! So if you haven’t gotten the chance to try it yet, now’s definitely the time.
On the food side, Mr Bean puts a local spin on their much-loved pancakes with the SINGAFOUR: Pandan Cheesecake Pancake (S$2.40), Gula Melaka Pancake (S$2.40), Chilli Crab Eggwich (S$3.60), and Butter Chicken Eggwich (S$3.60).
Our top pick has to be the flavourful Butter Chicken Eggwich, with a special mention going to the Pandan Cheesecake Pancake. Don’t take our word for it, though. GrabFood gives you a full set of all four flavours at a discounted rate, so you might as well try them all!
BreadTalk also comes with a whole host of savoury flavours this National Day, all specially designed for Singaporean taste buds! The locally-inspired selection includes eight flavours: Curry Chicken, Merlion’s Roar (sambal ikan bilis filling), Singa Shake (kaya filling), Otah Oleh, Laksa Bowl, Satay Chicken, Curry Naan, and Bak Kwa Delight (all S$2 each).
Our advice? Buy them in trios, because GrabPay is giving you 50% off every three buns. The Singa Shake and Merlion’s Roar were particularly popular because of their creative bun designs, but also pleasantly surprised us with their rich fillings. You may think there’s nothing special about a good old kaya bun, but this one is particularly creamy and soft—easily a new favourite!
In the past, paper cones of kacang puteh were a staple outside any movie theatre. Now, Grab gives us a chance to relive those days with this Cathay Cineplexes partnership.
The verdict is in—popcorn is overrated. Pick up some kacang puteh on your next movie date instead. And while you’re at it, you can also get your Cathay movie tickets (including weekend shows) at just S$9.50 on GrabPay!
Speaking of childhood tidbits, remember everyone’s favourite White Rabbit candy with its edible paper-like wrapping and the Haw Flakes we used to get from mama shops? GrabPay is also including one free 1965 Snack Pack with each order from Grab Hawker Picks!
Food aside, if you’re a fan of locally-inspired merchandise, you need to check out Grab’s Instagram giveaway!

In true 1965 kampung spirit, Grab also celebrates their Driver-Partners (or DAX, as Grab calls them) with this campaign. They’ve planned a free movie screening of Bruce Lee’s ‘Enter the Dragon’ on 31 July at The Cathay, just for eligible DAX and their plus ones! If that’s you, sign up here asap, because seats are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. More info here.
Just like Grab, let’s all share a little more in the 1965 spirit this National Day. Treat your friends to some comfort food, spend quality time with your family, and share your stories with the rest of us!
