Avis celebrates National Day – Enjoy up to 20% off your car rental this August

Avis launches a car rental sale in Singapore throughout August to celebrate the country’s 54th National Day and Hari Raya Haji.

To entice travellers from Singapore to consider a road trip during one of the country’s longest weekends this August, Avis is offering savings of up to 20%. Vehicles need to be picked up from Singapore with a minimum of three days’ rental between 1 to 31 August 2019.

Travellers can drive to visit their families over the long weekend, find the best spots to watch the National Day fireworks and even explore quaint and hidden cafes in Singapore that are off the beaten track. Travellers can also make use of the long weekend for exciting road trips to beautiful destinations in Malaysia such as Ipoh and Cameron Highlands.

Avis has shared its top tips for a more enjoyable driving experience:

1. Car selection

If you are travelling as a family, pick a spacious car that can fit all your luggage and passengers comfortably. For example, if you are travelling as a couple, a compact car would be ideal for your trip, whereas a family may require a 4×4.

2. Preparation is important

Sign up for Avis Preferred here before embarking on your road trip to expedite your car pick-up process and enjoy priority allocation for your preferred vehicle. Once you’ve collected your vehicle, always carry out vital vehicle checks such as if there’s adequate tyre pressure, working headlights, sufficient water and engine oil levels and a full tank of petrol.

3. Timing can be key

Leaving at an earlier time could save you the stress of traffic jams. For example, if you’re planning a trip to Malaysia, the best times to cross the causeway would be earlier in the morning (even before 6 AM) or the day before the public holiday. You can make use of apps or websites such as Checkpoint to check road conditions before you head out.

4. Take necessary breaks

Mark out rest stops and food places that you can stop at along your journey. This is a great excuse for everyone to stretch, get some air, as well as savour the delicious local food.

5. In-car activities

If you are driving with children, preparing in-car activities such as toys, game apps, colouring books or even audiobooks can keep them occupied while allowing you to focus on the road.

Have something to look forward to this August by planning your holiday in advance! Book online from now till 31 July 2019 here to enjoy this month-long Singapore sale. Terms and conditions apply.
