Why Jewel Changi Airport’s YOTELAIR is perfect for both tourists and locals

If you haven’t been to Jewel Changi Airport yet, here’s another reason (or five) to go! Apart from Shake Shack, A&W, and the Pokémon Centre, Jewel also boasts the first ever YOTELAIR property in Asia, with YOTEL’s signature first-class airline travel inspired experience.

YOTELAIR Changi opened its doors to the public on 12 April 2019, and we recently attended the Grand Opening Party to take a look at the futuristic space for ourselves.

Here are some of the best things about Jewel’s resident hotel:

Super convenient 24/7 facilities and amenities

The YOTEL hotel chain is famous for their high-tech automated designs. Instead of waiting in line, guests can use self check-in kiosks to check in and out of YOTELAIR Changi at any time they want.

Mission Control (concierge) is also available 24/7 to help with anything, from free coffee and tea to emergency supplies.

Add to that list the in-house gym, also open all day, and the Club Lounge KOMYUNITI, which overlooks Jewel’s lush Forest Valley and beautiful Rain Vortex. At 40 metres, it’s the world’s tallest indoor waterfall and a sight to behold.

Robots! Who doesn’t love them?

Personally, this is our favourite feature of YOTELAIR—the popular amenities robots which were first launched at YOTEL Singapore (Orchard Road).

Yobots Yoji and Airabella

With motion sensors and compartments to store items, these handy little talking crewbots Yoji and Airabella can detect obstacles or humans within their path, use the lifts, and call cabins upon arrival.

The perfect sleep environment

The windowless cabins (hotel rooms), modelled after luxury aircraft design, are basically made for sleeping—a dream for the insomniac or jet-lagged traveller.

The adjustable SmartBed™ uses a memory gel mattress and luxury bedding, and can go from a couch to a fully flat double bed with just the touch of a button.

We tried it out at the opening party, and can definitely vouch for its quality. You might even get a better night’s sleep here than at home!

Everything you need, and nothing you don’t

One thing all guests will agree on is that YOTELAIR makes great use of their space. Each of the 130 cabins is equipped with a flat screen TV and an en-suite bathroom with rain shower. There’s even luggage storage under the bed and a pull-out workstation with complimentary super-fast WiFi and multiple USB and charging ports.

Designed for transit passengers, YOTELAIR offers the option for day room bookings, starting from a minimum 4-hour block. But if all you want to do is freshen up before your next flight, they also offer three private shower cabins. Each shower cabin comes with a rain shower, Urban Skincare toiletries, fresh fluffy towels, and a hairdryer.

#SupportLocal: YOTELAIR‘s Singaporean flair

YOTELAIR also brings with it a healthy appreciation for local art. In the 4M (second floor) lobby, you’ll find local artwork by Kampong Creative which includes definitions of some of our favourite Singaporean slang terms.

The opening party featured cabins set up by homegrown brands Tiger Street LabSupermama, and Naiise, YOTELAIR’s Jewel neighbours and partners for the official launch. Each store has a fresh concept exclusive to the Jewel branch.

Tiger Street Lab (#05-205), Tiger’s first curated experience for locals and tourists alike, offers unique beer flavours and customised merchandise. Profits from beer sold at the store go to Tiger Street Food Support Fund, in support of Singapore’s heritage-rich street food culture and hawkers.

Supermama (#02-207) is a gallery store partnering with Japanese crafts facilities to produce beautiful souvenirs like the Jewel Changi Airport Vortex plate.

Naiise Iconic (#02-205/206) introduces in-store activities and a café concept for a more interactive lifestyle experience rather than a regular retail shop like their other outlets.

Explore Jewel — minus the crowds

Along with these local retail brands, you can also see and do tons of other things at Jewel. Staying at YOTELAIR gives you the freedom to take your time, at any time. Catch a midnight movie at Shaw Theatres Jewel (#B2-237), or view the 12.30am Rain Vortex light-and-sound show with barely any crowd.

YOTELAIR is great for layovers, with their minimum 4-hour bookings. But as the only hotel in Jewel, it’s also perfect for staycations where you can explore the huge 10-storey complex at your own pace. Check out our 24-hour guide to a fun and fulfilling day at Jewel here.

With Premium Queen, Premium Queen Accessible, and Family Cabins, there’s a room for everyone. To celebrate their opening, YOTELAIR has an amazing promotion for overnight stays in a Premium Queen Cabin (from S$140++ per night) and day stays (from S$80++ for four hours).

What’s more, the upcoming weekend is your last chance to enjoy these perks at Changi Airport:

  • Double GST absorption at 58 participating retail outlets across Changi Airport
  • Redemption of S$10 Grab Promo Codes with a minimum spend of S$70 in a maximum of 1 receipt over the weekend of 11 to 13 July (limited to the first 100 redemptions

Central location within Jewel, accessible from all four terminals of Changi Airport

Looks like it’s the best time to pack your bags for Jewel, so book your YOTELAIR stay here before 31 July 2019 to be eligible for the special opening rates!
