The area of the Shoalhaven in New South Wales is known for its natural beauty. If you visit the area you can spend time relaxing in Jervis Bay or you can explore the Kangaroo Valley. The wide expanses of Morton National Park are also in the area.
One of the biggest attractions when visiting the Shoalhaven is the range of food and drink related attractions to enjoy. Here are some of the experiences you may want to savor when you visit the area.
Cupitt’s Winery is a food and wine lover’s delight. Pay a visit to this winery and you can enjoy tasting beer in the microbrewery as well as the excellent wines on offer. Recently added to the winery is the artisan cheese experience in the onsite Fromagerie. This is the perfect place to visit after time spent admiring the local scenery.
The Treat Factory lives up to its name for anyone who is a fan of gourmet food. There is a cornucopia of food and drink experiences to enjoy. You can check out the range of luxury jams and sauces which have been produced using traditional family recipes.
One of the biggest attractions of a visit to the Treat Factory is the Belgian chocolate which is handcrafted on site. You can watch the process taking place on most weekdays. There are also chocolate making demonstrations available for groups of 20 people or more. You need to book if you want to take advantage of this facility. If you have kids, and you are visiting during the school holidays, you may find that there are children’s chocolate making classes available during your visit.
If you love seafood, you should think about visiting Zac’s Place in the centre of Currarong coastal village. It’s a great little seafood restaurant that is located on the coast with amazing views over the ocean. The restaurant is open every day for lunch and it also opens for dinner at weekends. It’s important to book ahead if you decide to pay Zac’s Place a visit
If you want to get the full food and drink experience in the Shoalhaven you may want to think about staying at Coolangatta Estate. Excellent wines are produced at the estate, from grapes grown on the slopes of Mount Coolangatta. The estate was also the place where people first settled in the Shoalhaven, although the site was very different then. There are more than 300 acres of land to explore on the estate and plenty of great wine tasting experiences to be had.
If you are planning to visit the Shoalhaven, you can enjoy any or all of this food and drink related experiences. Of course, you can also spend time relaxing and enjoying the stunning views in the area.
