Over the weekend, the cast of the upcoming Netflix film, Triple Frontier – Ben Affleck, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund and producer Chuck Roven were in Singapore to promote the film.
A fan meet-and-greet was held last Friday at Marina Bay Sands, followed by a press conference on Saturday morning. At the fan meet, a few lucky fans got to have selfies taken with the stars:
Coincidentally, it’s the first time all three of the actors are in Singapore. They were asked about their impression of our country at the press conference, but sadly, they hadn’t have a chance to explore much as they just landed the night before and had only been at the airport and hotel.
Triple Frontier will launch on Netflix from March 13, 2019.
The movie tells the story of a group of former Special Forces operatives who reunite to plan a heist in a sparsely populated multi-border zone of South America. For the first time in their prestigious careers these unsung heroes undertake this dangerous mission for self instead of country. But when events take an unexpected turn and threaten to spiral out of control, their skills, their loyalties and their morals are pushed to a breaking point in an epic battle for survival.
Directed by Academy Award nominee J.C. Chandor (Margin Call, All Is Lost, A Most Violent Year) and co-written by Chandor and Academy Award winner Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty), the action thriller stars Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund and Pedro Pascal.
Pictures from the fan meet:
To prepare for their characters in the film, Affleck, Hunnam and Hedlund shared that they talked ton and interacted with many real life army veterans including those from the special forces to understand what they have to go through in their line of work and their transition back to civilian lives after they retire from the forces. The trio also underwent bootcamps to build up their camaraderie and to learn what’s it like to be pushed to one’s breaking point.
Without giving away too much spoilers, Hunnam shared that one exciting to watch out for involves him and Hedlund swimming in a pool with mules (the real animals and not drug mules).
When quizzed by a reporter on who’s the most alpha male actor on set, Affleck answered affirmatively that it was without a doubt, “Chuck”, referring to Charlie Hunnam. Perhaps the swimming with mules in the pool scene has something to do with it as the director approached Affleck to do it first and he said no while Hunnam was the first to volunteer!
You can watch the movie trailer here:
One great thing about the film premiering exclusively on Netflix is that if you love the movie, you can choose to watch it as many times as you want later on. The actors can’t stressed this enough and would like you to catch it repeatedly.
The trio and producer Roven hinted that there are many plot twists in the film and promise that the film will leave you hanging by your seat with one cliffhanger after another.
If you haven’t gotten a Netflix subscription, perhaps it’s time to get one to catch movies like these. After the thriller Bird Box which sparked millions of Internet memes with the #birdboxchallenge and a record viewership of over 45 millions, would Triple Frontier be able to top this?
Stay tuned for the release!
