HEYTEA Singapore (ION Orchard, Clarke Quay Daydreamer Project Outlets) is now offering customers the option of having the all-natural “Skinny Sugar” sweetener instead of the standard all-natural rock sugar in more than 90% of their beverages. This new healthier alternative helps you to reduce your calorie count and sugar intake by 90% and beyond.
HEYTEA’s “Skinny Sugar” comprises minimal sugars. In Singapore, the recommended daily sugar intake is no more than 10 teaspoons or 200 calories. The Health Promotion Board has been encouraging the public to substitute refined sugars with all-natural sugars. All beverages sold in government agencies have to be sugar-free or low-sugar.
The healthier all-natural Stevia sweetener used predominantly in HEYTEA’s “Skinny Sugar” has a substantially reduced sugar content, adhering to the Health Promotion Board’s ideal standards of low-sugar and low-calorie. In light of the Health Promotion Board’s national efforts to encourage healthier eating choices, HEYTEA hopes to offer customers a healthier alternative.
Stevia is a natural sweetener, derived from the stevia rebaudiana plant. Compared to refined sugars which are made by man, stevia comes from a natural source and is hence, healthier for consumption.
Since its documentation hundreds of years ago in the 19th century when a Swiss Botanist in South America brought it back home with him, Stevia has been long used by man as a sugar substitute. Today, the all-natural sweetener is recognized by many food safety authorities all over the world including the Food and Drug Administration of the United States and the European Food Safety Authority.
It has gained a fond name for itself as the “World’s Third Sugar Source”. Due to its low sugar content, Stevia does not result in sugar spikes and do not affect blood sugar or insulin levels, making it the best sugar substitute for both diabetics and those at risk of diabetes. Furthermore, it does no harm to your teeth and has numerous benefits such as regulating hypertension, helping with candidiasis, and more making it an increasingly important sugar substitute.
