If you are familiar with Danish watch brands like Skagen and Bering, you would like Nordgreen watches too. The designs from Nordgreen are simplistic and minimalist in design, focusing on functionality and priced affordably at around S$200 to $300 per watch.
The brand doesn’t follow fashion trends, but instead stick to what makes everyone happy and wrap social responsible values into the brand’s proposition by giving back to society with every purchase.
The brand cares a lot about their customers too. As such, even as part of their Giving Back Programme, the customer get to choose one cause from three which you would prefer to support with them.
The three causes are HEALTH – to provide clean water through a partnership with Water for Good so that when you purchase a watch, you will give two months of clean water to one person in the The Central African Republic; EDUCATION – to educate the future through a partnership with Pratham UK, so that when you buy a watch, you will give two months of education to a child in India; and ENVIRONMENT – to protect the rain forest through a partnership with Cool Earth, so that when you purchase a watch, you will preserve 50 sqm of rain forest in Latin America.
These are all real, quantifiable social causes that you can contribute directly to together with Nordgreen.
Nordgreen watches are designed by renowned Danish designer, Jakob Wagner, who have won numerous awards globally. His design portfolio include products for Bang & Olufsen and other major Scandinavian brands. He even designed a firefighter breathing apparatus that’s featured in MoMA.
Jakob is known for understanding user behaviour, simplistic design, superb craftsmanship, and functionality beyond what you even thought was functionality.
Nordgreen watches have been featured favourably in publications like Huffington Post and Wired. The brand is one of the fastest growing watch brand in Denmark and the company has raised over US$250,000 on Kickstarter, demonstrating how much appeal their proposition has.
For Singaporean shoppers, you will be happy to know that Nordgreen just launched 14 localised websites recently, including Singapore, China, Japan and several countries across the EU.
Here’s one of their bestselling design which came delivered a few weeks back – the Philosopher – Gun Metal | Gun Metal Mesh ($309), which features interchangeable strap. I added the Navy Blue leather strap (S$69) so I can switch the mesh strap to leather to suit the occasion for a different look.
What I like about Nordgreen is really the simplicity of the product. Essentially, there are just three watch-face designs – Philosopher, Native and Infinity:
Pick one and then just pick a strap which you like. If you would like different look with the same watch-face, you can order a few more straps to change it around. That’s it – simple, clean-cut and functional.
