Play It Forward is back for a second year running with a fresh new concept to bring everyone together with the set-up of Singapore’s largest crochet rope playground.
This school holiday, the malls of Frasers Property are bringing in The RopeScape – a combination of individual nylon ropes crocheted by hand to form a 10m by 7m wide structure for children to play in. As an engaging way to bring the family together, the vibrant RopeScape will be set up at seven malls of Frasers Property island-wide from 29 May to 1 July 2018.
With a $5 donation for 20 minutes of play time, shoppers can let their young ones have fun in rewarding way while chipping in for a greater good. All proceeds raised will be donated to the Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN) – Centre for Adults.
At the end of the event, these ropes will be upcycled and transformed into a variety of everyday items from key chains and dog leashes, to skipping ropes and floor rugs, by APSN and a team of dedicated volunteers. These newly crafted products will be put up for sale, where all proceeds will go to the association’s Centre for Adults.
The first RopeScape will be set up at Waterway Point and officials from the Singapore Book of Records will be present to certify the playground as ‘Singapore’s largest crochet rope playground’.
To kick-start the upcycling journey with APSN, a mass rope upcycling workshop ‘Eco Rope Art Jam’ will be held on 2 June 2018 at Waterway Point. Members of the public are invited to flex their creative muscles and actively participate in this upcycling journey.
Interested participants may register through this link. The first 50 volunteers and participants to register will receive their very own crochet table mat as a keepsake.
From July to November, trainees and alumnus from APSN will conduct upcycling workshops with members of the public to crochet items for sale in the run up to their Christmas Bazaar on 1 December 2018 at Waterway Point.
Play time does not end there. The striking RopeScape will also see a $10,000 Flash Treasure Hunt conducted across seven malls of Frasers Property on weekends. With a minimum spend of $30, Frasers Rewards members will have 30 seconds to enter the ball pool and collect as many special coloured balls for that round. Prizes for this game are in the form of digital gift cards and are based on the number of balls collected.
Shoppers can also participate in an exciting game of aim, Hit the Bullseye, across four malls of Frasers Property. With a minimum spending of $30, shoppers will receive 3 balls to hit the bullseyes fabricated from crochets and stand to walk away with retailer vouchers.
With a purposeful way to play and give back, head down to the malls of Frasers Property to enjoy a meaningful and fun-filled time with your loved ones.
