EVITA The Musical in Singapore

Remember the EVITA movie in 1996 starring Madonna as Eva Perón, Jonathan Pryce as Juan Perón and Antonio Banderas as Che Guevara? The movie went on to win an Oscar and three Golden Globes.

But long before the movie, it was a musical theatre version to begin with and still is today. For decades, EVITA’s fairy-tale love story coupled with the tragic hand of fate, has thrilled theatre lovers all over the world.

Winner of over 20 major awards, the original West End and Broadway production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical EVITA, directed by legendary Broadway director Harold Prince, makes its Asian premiere in Singapore as part of their international tour with Emma Kingston as Eva Perón, Jonathan Roxmouth as Che Guevara and Robert Finlayson as Juan Perón.

The musical story is set in Buenos Aires between 1934 and 1952, of how Eva Perón, wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Perón rise from rags-to-riches, from her humble beginnings through to the extraordinary wealth, power and status which ultimately led her to be heralded as the “spiritual leader of the nation” by the Argentine people.

The finest pairing of Tim Rice’s lyrics and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s music has created some of the best loved masterpieces in musical theatre. Capturing the essence of Argentine music, some of the featured songs in EVITA The Musical include..

Though the stage set and costumes may not look that grand or impressive, you’ll still enjoy the cast’s great performance and excellent vocals. EVITA The Musical is definitely one to tick off your musicals checklist and a classic musical of this era not to be missed.

For a strictly limited season, EVITA The Musical is now showing at The Mastercard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands. Tickets from $55* are on sale via the Marina Bay Sands Box Offices, Marina Bay Sands online ticketing and the SISTIC website.
