These photos are all taken with the HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro and we are pretty impressed

One of the world’s leading smartphone brands, HUAWEI, is very confident of their best-in-class camera and we can understand why. We took the HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro to test out the camera for two weeks, taking random shots, without using any professional settings or additional support.

The HUAWEI Mate 10 series boast of being the first AI-enabled smartphones which is built within the phone (versus cloud as per other smartphone brands) and we are eager to find out how much more powerful the AI is.

These photos are all taken with the HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro camera, with no additional editing done to the colours or the brightness or any other settings. The results and astonishingly good and with photo quality this good, it can become a very hardy back-up for high quality photos when you are not carrying your DSLR or more professional digital camera with you.

General Shots

The only time when the camera was not so good was when zoom is required. To be fair, zoom is always challenging, even for DSLR whereby you would need to switch to telephoto lens.

Zoomed photo – quality is still decent, but not as crisp

Why is the photo quality so good?

It’s because of the AI-enabled new generation Leica Dual SUMMILUX-H lens camera with real-time scene and object recognition.

Yes, HUAWEI phones are equipped with Leica lens and powered by AI. You can see the AI at work when you are taking photos of say, nature or food and the AI is able to instantly recognise it, switching to the appropriate nature or food photography mode without you having to tweak the settings manually.

The camera also features the world’s largest dual F1.6 aperture lenses, 20MP monochrome sensor and 12MP colour sensor with Optical Image Stabilisation, making it capable of taking amazing shots, even in low light conditions.
