The festive season and New Year’s celebrations are once again upon us. From last minute gift shopping to organising a kick butt rager, there is much to be done. Once the dust settles and the hustle and bustle of merrymaking draws to a close, one would naturally desire a round of serious relaxation. And what better way to unwind than with a luxurious staycation at Ascott Orchard?
Here’s the good news: you can stand a chance to win yourself a complimentary stay at Ascott Orchard Singapore, where you’ll be set to cap off 2017 in absolute elegance, comfort and style!
You may have heard of recent efforts to reinvigorate the shopping experience at Orchard Road, using the Scramble Walk diagonal pedestrian crossing. Inspired by the iconic Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo, shoppers are now able to cross the bustling Orchard Road and Cairnhill Road intersection from all directions.
All you need to do to win this exclusive staycation in one of Ascott Orchard’s exclusive serviced suites is to head down to Orchard Road to experience this revived urban shopping experience – and then snap your best picture of the Scramble Walk.
Don’t get yourself in a scramble if you aren’t a professional photographer, because we’ve scoured the area for the best locations (and best photo concepts) to capture the perfect shot.
P.S. Find more details on the contest below.
Robinson’s The Heeren – Ground Level
The streets provide an atmospheric backdrop for a brilliant shot, regardless of the weather forecast. Instead of allowing bad weather to dampen your spirits, use it to your advantage. As we embraced the torrential downpour, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the rain melted the backdrop into a lovely blend of reflections and colours.
You’ll find an adorable statue seated right by the entrance of Robinson’s The Heeren, and it makes for an excellent prop for your picture. The three characters look as though they are staring in wonder at the busy weekend crossing, making for great supporting characters in your shot!
Ange Cafe @ Robinsons The Heeren
There’s a particularly enchanting view of the Scramble Walk from the balcony of Ange cafe, perched in a cosy corner on the second floor of Robinson’s the Heeren. Enjoy a fragrant cup of coffee as you capture the crowds scurrying across the busy intersection.
Pro tip: elevate your shot by including your beverage in the picture. It adds a classic edge to the picture.
Outside H&M
Right by the roadside of H&M is yet another vantage point for a picturesque shot. Here, you will be able to capture the sea of people rush by as you stand delicately still.
Pro tip #2: Dress to impress with your #ootd!
By nightfall, the brilliant festive lights will illuminate the dusk skies, giving rise to an impressive shot. You can play around with effects on VSCO or Snapseed to create the most majestic outcome.
What Else – In The Middle Of The Road!
There is no better spot for the perfect selfie than the heart of the intersection. Here, the sheer vibrancy and energy of the crossing finds its way into the picture, with the crowds (and yourself, of course) neon-lit by the city lights. You have only 30 seconds to do this!
Pro tip #3: Grab your BFF, flash your best smile and up the competition for the other shutterbugs!
Little human, big bustling city – parking yourself in the middle of the road really does make for a gorgeous shot.
What are you waiting for? Grab your camera (your phone camera works just fine!) and head down to the urban intersection to unleash your inner photographer this weekend. As an added bonus, winners will even walk away with an all-new HP Sproket Printer on top of the staycation!
