Boeing and Science Centre Singapore launched the trailblazing aviation experience at the ‘Above and Beyond’ interactive flight exhibition starting 16 December 2017 to 8 April 2018. It will be the first travelling exhibition in South East Asia.
Produced by Evergreen Exhibitions and in collaboration with NASA and the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, ‘Above and Beyond’ interactive flight exhibition aims to celebrate both the history and future of flight.
The exhibit covers 5000 square meters in area with five themed galleries – ‘Up’, ‘Faster’, ‘Higher’, ‘Further’, and ‘Smarter’. The aim of the interactive exhibit is for visitors to experience flight simulation, augmented reality, touch-tables, virtual reality and more.
Visitors can also design and test-fly their own supersonic jet and take a simulated elevator ride to space for a breathtaking 360-degree view of Earth.
The launch is part of Boeing’s 70-year celebration in Singapore. President of Boeing South East Asia, Ralph L. ‘Skip’ Boyce said, “During this time we have grown our commercial, defence and services footprint through private and public sector partnerships in the local aerospace industry.”
Boeing hoped that the ‘Above and Beyond’ exhibit will spark a strong curiosity among the youths in Singapore and inspire them to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Associate Professor Lim Tit Meng, Chief Executive of Science Centre Singapore said, “Space travel and exploration has always fascinated and inspired generations the world over. What we have achieved through the centuries is proof that we can indeed transcend limitations through multiple domains of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).”
The ‘Above and Beyond’ exhibition has successfully brought each one of these subjects to life. It also wraps up a full year of exciting programmes at Science Centre Singapore designed to celebrate the very best in STEM education in Science Centre Singapore’s 40th year.
Admission to Above and Beyond is free. However, standard admission fee to Science Centre Singapore still applies. Visit their Facebook Page for more flight exhibition details.
