Skechers Sundown Festival was lit–here’s why

An audience of close to 5,000 turned up at the Skechers Sundown Festival at City Beach Resort (Labrador Park) to celebrate an evening of all-things Singapore and music.

In its eighth edition, the festival showcased the talents of Derrick Hoh, Jack & Rai, Ling Kai, The Summer State, Farrago, Jason Chung and Typhoon Band, Axel Brizzy, Jean Goh, and Ashdown.

Here’s what happened at the event, straight from Skechers:

The festival opened with an invigorating Pound session led by online active fashion retailer KITTED and fitness group POUNDfit Singapore. Festival attendees were given free novelty drumsticks and invited to join in an energising cardio-drumming session.

Up-and-coming Singapore rapper Axel Brizzy opened the festival with an original track, Never Get Old, The SHINE Youth Festival winner performed a remix of Shape Of You, to cheers from the crowd and finished his performance with his very first single, Let Me Know.

Rising pop/rock band, The Summer State, hyped the crowd up with favourites such as I Do, I Don’t and Hush, We’re Taking Over.

Mando-pop singer Derrick Hoh was greeted by boisterous cheers from the audience as he sang All I Want, a song from his very first English EP.

He finished his set by introducing local celebrity and 2017 Star Awards winner Lee Teng (李腾) and his duet partner, Zowie (林吟蔚) who recently released a single, Fall In Love    (小伴情歌) – a romantic love duet.

Closing the show was local veteran singing duo – and crowd-favourite of the night – Jack & Rai who ended the festival on a high with The Fa La La Song and Fiona. Audiences serenaded to the familiar tunes of the duet and even got them to encore three more songs after their set.

Everyone in the audience sure had an amazing time and got to go home with gifts and freebies. Wonder what next year’s Sundown Festival would be like?
