Prada’s S$256 paper clip and 7 other unique designer products

It’s not just a paper clip, it’s a paper clip from the luxury French label Prada. It’s not priced affordably under S$3 for a box of hundred paperclips at a local bookstore.

The Prada paperclip-shaped money clip retails at US$185 (S$256) on Barney’s New York website and is the latest unique item to join the list of extravagant things which makes you go – HUH.

The Prada’s paper clip-shaped money clip is made in Italy, of polished sterling silver measuring 6.25cm long and 2.25cm wide.

Of course, it has the Italian luxury name – Prada – embossed on one side.

For a cheaper alternative, Barney’s New York too sells its own version. Also designed in the shape of a paper clip, its money clip is made of polished sterling silver and is priced at US$150 (S$208). Cheaper than Prada’s but smaller – measuring 6.25cm long and 2cm wide.

For a fancier paper clip, a twisted paper clip-shaped money clip also retails on the same site at the same price of US$150 (S$208). Made of polished sterling silver, it measures 6.25cm long and 1.75cm wide.

Called Arena extra-large shopper tote bag, the Balenciaga’s version is made of “blue wrinkled, glazed leather” with a “gold-stamped logo at topline” and sells for US$2,145 (S$2,973) on Barney’s website.
There is a black version that costs US$1,765 (S$2,446).

And in its latest development of all things fashion, the French luxury label recently launched a tote bag that looks like a paper bag, for US$1,1,00 (S$1,525).
Instead of paper, the white tote bag is made of high-priced calfskin and comes branded with the word Balenciaga, Time magazine reported.
The tote bag comes with Nappa leather handles, silver hardware and plenty of zippers and pockets.
The US magazine also reported that its designer, Demna Gvasalia, wanted to appeal to a younger audience with the bag, which is currently sold out on its website.

Last year, as part of Fall/Winter 2016 collection, skateboarding brand Supreme designed and sold a red clay brick that went on sale on eBay for up to US$1,000 (S$1,386) after selling out in one day, British newspaper The Guardian reported.

The original price was US$30 (S$42) and the brick was sold out within minutes of launch.

It was reported that the red clay brick, branded with Supreme’s logo, was part of the New York brand’s accessories line that previously included a hammer, calculator and fire extinguisher.
