On 18 March 2017, the Sengkang Public Library reopened its door to an enthusiastic crowd, with one new floor and something no other library in Singapore has – a dedicated “tween” area. A queue stretching for about 80 metres started forming an hour before the 10am grand reopening.
The Singapore Cosplay Club was there to lend our SuperHeroes support at the event, even posing for photos with Yaacob Ibrahim, Singapore’s Minister for Communications and Information.
The tween space is designed for readers between the age of 10 and 14. The spokesperson from the National Library Board shared that the area was introduced because Sengkang has a larger proportion of young families and they hope to help tweens to build a good reading habit into adulthood.
A big collection of comic books are housed in the new Sengkang Public Library, including titles from decades as well as brand new series.
The Singapore Cosplay Club attended the event as Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash and Spider-Man, drawing lots of attention:

The Sengkang Public Library is now open to the general public. We had a lot of fun at the library and we hope you guys will have as much fun as we did when you visit!
