Are you a Standard Chartered Credit Cardholder? If so, you are in for some real dining treats and privileges. If not, consider signing up for one here.
Standard Chartered has partnered with a selection of reputable and popular restaurants to offer exclusive weekday dining privileges for cardholders. These dining privileges cater specifically to busy executives who want to dine and unwind after a long day at work.
From now till 31 December 2016, Standard Chartered Credit Cardholders get to enjoy up to 15% off their total bill at over 100 participating restaurants from Mondays to Fridays (excluding public holidays).
In addition, with an accumulated minimum spend of S$300, cardholders can get 6% cashback (up to S$50 per month and S$100 per quarter) at the participating restaurants.
I can see how you can easily plan a night out dining with colleagues using these privileges to enjoy discounts and cashback!
Two of the participating restaurants are OSO and The Peranakan. I will share how you can make use of these Standard Chartered promotions to save on your bills when dining at these two establishments.
OSO first opened in 2004, launched by two long-time friends, Stephane Colleoni and international award-winning Italian chef Diego Chiarini.
Centrally located near the CBD and within walking distance from Outram Park MRT station, OSO is a 4-storey, 17,100 square feet conservation heritage shophouse with a wide array of dining spaces for private, corporate and casual dining.
When we arrived, the place was packed with well-dressed office executives who were enjoying the fine Italian cuisine while plying each other with the wide selection of wines.
Service was really warm, with very attentive wait staff and a chef who would come out of the kitchen to greet regulars. I like that the place is not too pretentious and great for hanging out and relaxing after a long day.
These were the dishes sampled:
STARTER
Fresh Burrata cheese served with cherry tomatoes and its own sabayon
Poached spider crab, vegetables tartar
PASTA
Fettuccine pasta with braised Pancetta bacon, onion and red wine ragout
Carnaroli rice in risotto style with black truffle
MAIN
Slow cooked pork belly “porchetta” style
Hot smoked salmon, tomato tartar, green asparagus and beetroot juice
DESSERT
70% hot dark chocolate tart and milk ice cream
Saffron frozen parfait with candied ginger
The standout dishes for me were the two mains. The pork belly was slow-cooked to perfection, tender, moist and a little tangy at the top. For the salmon, the combination with beetroot juice was new to the palate for me and tasted great.
The two starters were plated beautifully and kicked off the dinner on a flavourful note. The black truffle in the risotto was very generous and oozed through in every bite. The fettuccine was a delightful surprise for what seemed like a more regular dish, satisfying to the last strand of pasta.
Prices here are on the mid to high side, hence the Standard Chartered Dining Journeys privileges would be much welcomed at OSO.
Head here for a great night out with the colleagues after a hard day at work to kick back a few glasses of wine with great Italian food.

It is not easy to find a good Peranakan or Straits Cuisine restaurant in Singapore, due to the labour-intensive preparation process for the food. The Peranakan is one such authentic Straits Cuisine restaurant, helmed by chef Raymond Khoo who has over 30 years of culinary experience under his belt.
It is also the only Peranakan restaurant along the Orchard road shopping strip and the only restaurant still serving “Tok Panjang” – a grand Peranakan feast once reserved for only wealthy Straits families to celebrate special occasions like weddings, anniversaries and important birthdays.
No wonder all the other tables seemed to be celebrating something or another in a family setting when we popped by for a dinner tasting!
These were the dishes sampled:
Asam Pedas Fish Head
Satay Babi Sum Chan
Sotong Masak Asam
Sambal Udang Petai
Nasi Ulam
Pulot Enti Durian (dessert)
The standout dishes for me were the asam fish head curry, a favourite dish in my family (my paternal grandmother is Peranakan, by the way), the squid and satay pork. These three dishes have that home-cooked goodness to them, with all-natural ingredients and no added preservatives or artificial flavouring.
These are all sharing dishes, making The Peranakan a great dining option for large groups and families.
I will be bringing my family back for more at The Peranakan using the Standard Chartered dining privileges. Maybe even order the “Tok Panjang”!

Based on the menu introduced in this article, i will prefer The Peranakan as i am typical Asian and like Asian cuisine very much :) Italine cuisine although nice and presentable, but i dont like cheese and milk stuff :(
