A wedding destination like no other at Treasure Bay Bintan

Luxurious tents line up along the sides of the first-of-its-kind 6.3 hectares of recreational saltwater man-made lagoon, Crystal Lagoon in Treasure Bay Bintan.

If Bintan strikes you as just another island destination for a short weekend escapade, think again. This unforgettable isle that is a 60-minute ferry ride away from Singapore will leave you spoilt for choice with its plethora of resorts. Amongst the endless choices, the up-and-coming Treasure Bay Bintan comes out top as the perfect wedding destination.

Since its official launch in September last year, Treasure Bay has drawn throngs of crowds to its waterfront resort. With international and boutique hotel brands such as Mercure and Ibis Budget in the pipeline, the entertainment scene can only get more exciting. Currently in its first phase of development, Treasure Bay is already poised to be a hot spot among family and friends for its many first-in-Asia concepts.

Have your own sunset wedding dream come true at Crystal Lagoon

Emotions among the wedding guests run high as the newly-weds walk down the aisle in a white wedding ceremony at the heart of Crystal Lagoon.

If a sunset wedding ceremony is what you’re looking for, then look no further. The Canopi Resort at Treasure Bay Bintan offers wedding packages for couples yearning to exchange vows against the backdrop of a beautiful sunset and the pristine Crystal Lagoon; with water so blue it glistens as rays of sunlight hit its surface.

Glamping

This entirely brand new concept at The Canopi Resort will blow your mind. Putting the glam in camping, “glamping” is simply a stroke of genius. Combining the best of outdoor camping with the comforts of a hotel room, The Canopi Resort renders a unique and luxurious experience one couldn’t resist.

Housing 18 safari-tent suites, 11 lagoon-tent and 11 deluxe lagoon view tent suites, each of the 40 tents at The Canopi Resort comes fully air-conditioned with a private garden and patio. Situated closer to the lagoon, the lagoon view tent suites provide guests with captivating views of the pristine clear blue water.

Fast and furious in the jungle

Have no inkling when it comes to entertaining your wedding guests? That is the least of your worries at Treasure Bay with a wide myriad of fun and games to choose from. Those with an insatiable appetite for adventure will find driving ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) to be nothing short of a thrilling experience.

The fact that it’s not yet available in Singapore leaves one with no excuse to skip out on this. While the monstrous façade of this vehicle may seem daunting at first, it’ll grow on someone who loves a race or two.

Fun times pass by in a blink of an eye as we posed for a photo with Darmani, the official adventure seeker and his fellow colleague, at The Canopi Resort before returning our soiled ATV.

Adrenaline-pumping water sports

If water sports float your boat, then you’re bound to find one activity to your liking at Chill Cove. Stand-up paddling, cable ski, water tricycles (above) and inflatable water parks are just a few of many water activities available for everyone, regardless of you being a seasoned swimmer or not. The much talked about Jetovator, which is an aerial water sport can also be found here. With so much to do, you can be sure your wedding guests are having a blast.

My favourite was cable ski and I would highly recommend to a visitor new to wakeboarding. Similar to the latter, cable ski allows beginners and advanced individuals alike to enjoy the thrill of riding on water.

Anyone can experience the fun and thrill of wakeboarding without a boat with Sesitec System 2.0 – a two tower system with a cable that pulls riders from one tower to the other. Photo © Landmarks Berhad

Eat your heart out at the local kelong restaurant

How can a spread of local delights not include some salivating black peppered crabs?
The piping hot plate of tofu at Kampung Kelong Seafood Restaurant was so good we cleaned it up in no time.

Kampung Kelong Seafood Restaurant at the Mangrove River is touted as one of the local restaurants you got to try on your first visit. Not only is the local feast easy on the wallet, the sumptuous meal was well worth every cent for its generous portion and fresh ingredients. Also take the opportunity to rejuvenate and soak in the lush greenery as you pass by mangrove trees on your way to the restaurant.

Feel the wind in your hair as you make your way on a boat ride to the local kelong restaurant for a hearty meal.

Like no other resort in Bintan, Treasure Bay is hailed as the quintessential wedding destination, especially with an outdoor glamping experience exclusive to The Canopi Resort. Whether you are young or mature, seeking for a thrill or just looking to chill, there is something for everyone.

Having seen Bintan in a whole new light after my recent trip to Treasure Bay, I can certainly say I’m sold.
