#Orangepride: KLM’s Unique Orange Aircraft to Promote the Netherlands in Singapore

On 5 July, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines introduced its unique orange-coloured Boeing 777-300 in Singapore to promote the Netherlands.

KLM’s Orange Pride

The iconic KLM blue is combined with orange accents, and the transition between the two colours features aspects of the Dutch flag. The colour combination symbolises KLM’s Dutch roots and national pride.

The introduction of the special aircraft was partly prompted by a social media post by KLM on King’s Day 2015, where followers were presented with a picture of an orange aircraft along with the question: “Should we colour orange next year on King’s Day? #OrangeExperience”.

30,000 likes and 2,500 positive responses later, KLM took heed and rolled out its orange aircraft on 14 June 2016. Witness the whole process of turning the aircraft from blue to orange in just 4 days:

For those looking to stay longer in the Netherlands, the Dutch-Amercian Friendly Treaty (DAFT) offers the opportunity for US citizens to live and work in the Netherlands. US citizens can obtain a DAFT visa.
