Bali is a popular travel destination for a short, beach getaway.
Asher and I went on a father and son only getaway last month. This was the first time I traveled alone with Asher without Rachel. Usually, the mother is the one taking care of the child during a family vacation while the father takes care of the itinerary. For this trip, I had to do everything and it turned out pretty okay.
We stayed at Sheraton Bali, the only 5-star resort in Kuta and flew with JetStar, which offers two daily flights to Bali from Singapore.
Everything went smoothly and here are five reasons why you should choose Sheraton Bali if you are planning for a short, family vacation to Bali.
1.
Convenient Location
The hotel is located in the heart of the bustling Kuta Beach where all the actions are. Jamie’s Italian is nearby and at the connected upscale shopping mall, Beachwalk, adjacent to the hotel, there is a kids’ amusement park as well as a LEGO shop:
As mentioned earlier, this is the only 5-star resort in Kuta, offering spacious rooms with views over the Indian Ocean. Check out the size of our lavish suite:
2.
Childcare Facility
There is a free childcare centre for kids, Play@Sheraton, provided for hotel guests. This was mighty awesome for me as I was traveling alone and get to go for a massage while I checked Asher at the childcare centre.
The centre follows the concept of ‘edutainment’, merging education and entertainment, encouraging intellectual stimulation and fun whereby children will experience fun and educational activities.
Facilities in Play@Sheraton include:
- Welcome area
- Communal table with 3 computer stations
- 42″ TV with international channel selection and DVD movies
- PlayStation 3
- Complimentary wireless internet access
- Local and international books selection
- Mini toilet and wash basin
- Outdoor sand pit
- Outdoor wet area with cascading water feature
While the kids are at Play@Sheraton, the adults can then pop over for your own pampering at Sheraton’s Shine Spa:
3.
Kids Friendly Facilities
There is a nice little kid’s pool where Asher gets to swim at every morning while I jog on the treadmill in the gym. The gym faces the pool, so I get to keep watch on him while I exercise.
4.
Quality Food Choices
There are three restaurants within the resort itself – Bene which serves Italian cuisine; Feast Restaurant which offers international cuisine; and The Lounge, for bar and drinks. Most important of all for family travellers, they offer kids menus.
5.
Friendly Staff
The service standard is top-notch. When I checked Asher in at the childcare centre, he got to know one of the service staff so well that he asked me to bring him back there before we leave the resort so that he can say bye to the guy! Some of the other reception and wait staff also made effort to remember Asher. He was greeting and even chatting with some of them like friends by the end of our two nights stay.
