Premium Economy Seats

Though the Business Premier lie-flat beds look super tempting and comfortable; and I very much dreamed to fly seated on one of them one day, our Premium Economy seats were pretty comfortable too. The seats were spacious where I even got to sit cross-legged while enjoying the inflight movies on air. The seat is fitted with comfortably cushioned leather seats that reclines with extendable foot rest. I’m standing at 1.7m and was able to fully stretched out in my seats during the flight.

Inflight Entertainment System

The Dreamliner boasts an innovative touch screen inflight entertainment system with over 2,000 hours of content including the latest movies, box sets, games and music. There is also s feature call “Seat Chat”, where you get to send instant messages to your friends and family seated in another row; or just you can try connecting with that cute gal/guy you saw while boarding. If you do not want to be disturbed, you can also switch “Seat Chat” off. In addition, you can also order your own food and beverage or send a message to the crew directly from the inflight entertainment screen.

Meal Time

It was quite a tummy-happy experience in their Premium Economy class where the food served was satisfying and warm. During my flight to Auckland from Singapore I got to enjoy a sumptuous breakfast and 3-course lunch, and on the way back to Singapore, a 3-course dinner and filling breakfast just before we touched down in Singapore. Travelers get to pick from their selection of food, New Zealand wine and the usual beverages.

Family Traveling with Kids

An 8-hour long flight could be tiresome for families with young kids, and as parents, we always want to make sure the kids are comfortable and at ease for long haul flights. Air New Zealand’s Dreamliner flight gives passengers an option to Fly Happy with their Skycouch seats. The Skycouch is a row of three Economy seats that together create a flexible space for whatever you want it to be – an area to relax and stretch out in, or for the kids to use as a play area or to nap with the parent next to it. It’s like having your very own couch on the plane! See how it works here.

Here's Lin showing how one can get comfy in a skycouch with Air New Zealand. We couldn't get a shot in the real plane so we posed with the setup at the Air New Zealand 75 Years special exhibition at Auckland Museum.
