Mom’s Day Out in the HDB Heartland

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mummies in Singapore and around the world. There are two around me – my wife, who’s a mother to my son, Asher, my own mother and my mother-in-law.

Instead of jostling with the crowd in the town area today, we opted to visit 888 Plaza, a heartland mall in Woodlands for a simple dinner, heartland shopping and participate in the Mom’s Day Out activities.

Mom’s Day Out is a series of fun-filled evening activities across various HDB shopping centres across Singapore in the few two weekends of May. Today marks the last day.

We participated in the DIY Mother’s Day cake decoration session whereby Asher had a lot of fun decorating his own cake for Rachel:

While we were working on the cake, there was a sushi making workshop for kids on stage:

There were other activites going on and the first 50 customers who spent at least S$20 at participating shopping centres today even got to redeem a special Mother’s Day gift.

Next time you are looking for something to do over the weekend, instead of heading to the mega malls, why not shop at your neighbourhood HDB shopping centres:
