In this third and final post on cruising with Princess Cruises’ Sapphire Princess, I will cover on the entertainment on board the ship and a little on the offshore excursion to Penang, Malaysia.
What entertainment can one expect? Guest services include the following: The Sanctuary, Movies Under the Stars poolside screen, Lotus Spa and Fitness Center, Kid’s and Teen’s Centers, an Internet Café, Lawn Court (golf putting and lawn games), a Casino, a Library, an Art Gallery, a Photo/Video Gallery, Duty-free Boutiques, a Sports Court, a Guest Services Desk, a Shore Excursions Desk, a Medical Center and even a Wedding Chapel!
Showrooms/Lounges include: Princess Theater, Explorer’s Lounge, Wheelhouse Bar, Club Fusion, Skywalkers Nightclub and Churchill’s Cigar Lounge.
I am not too much into drinking and clubbing, but for those who are interested, there are no lack of venues for nightlife activities. I even spotted some programs targeted for LGBT to mingle!
My favourite entertainment was their Movies Under the Stars poolside screen. On the first day noon, I caught a Sheryl Crow concert while enjoying the sea breeze and running around the deck with Asher. Later the same night, I watched the film, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, under the stars. The feeling was amazing. It was drizzling slightly and a little chilly, but blankets were available and there is free flow snacks available. Love it:
I also went for a spa pampering session at Lotus Spa and Fitness Center. There was a 3-in-1 promotion where you get to experience a bit of everything and I made use of that:
For the shopaholics, there are the various duty-free boutiques to head to:
For my family, we like spending the evening at the Princess Theater as my son loves stage performances. There are magic shows as well as song and dances, all delightful experiences for Asher:
Usually when I go for short cruises, I skip on disembarking the ship, preferring to enjoy the facilities on board with the shop being less crowded when the majority of the guests get off. This time round, I went for a short tour of Penang, Malaysia, as Asher hasn’t been there before:
What I like is that after the land tour, we know we can return on board our ship and a nice meal will be waiting for us in a fancy restaurant with a sea view. Priceless.
Actually it is just as enjoyable and relaxing to just do nothing at all on board the ship. Just lounge around and enjoy the sea breeze! Look at how beautiful it is out at sea:
One last thing – don’t forget to check out the Golden Balloon Drop event on your last night cruising! There will be music and dance as a whole net of balloons are set free onto the guests on the lower deck. Pop the balloons – there are prizes hidden in some of them:
