Are you or your kid a fan of SpongeBob?
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water will be released in cinemas from 5 Mar in Singapore and Nickelodeon has a slew of promotions and activities planned in conjunction with the movie.
Yesterday, our family were invited by Nickelodeon to catch the movie preview with lots of other families with young kids.
Asher was looking forward to catching the movie for the whole week. After the show, he left the theatre satisfied, chanting the “SpongeBob Squarepants! SpongeBob Squarepants!” jingle all the way home.
The movie is just like the television series – full of witty one-liners and random humour. At the end of it all, you will just remember SpongeBob is an awfully sweet character – so sweet that you will find it hard to hate him even though he can be pretty annoying on screen with his silly fixed smile.
I had a good laugh or two sitting through the movie. I cannot remember most of the storyline though, but it is a fun movie to watch for the whole family.
If you have young kids at home, go catch it! 🙂
Synopsis:
Based on the Nickelodeon television series “SpongeBob SquarePants”, this movie is the sequel to 2004’s “The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie”. This time around, SpongeBob and the gang have to face against Burger Beard, a pirate who owns a book that makes any evil plan he writes in it come true, and he has hatched a plan to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula. This fight will take SpongeBob and his friends out of the ocean and to the surface in order to retrieve the stolen formula. At the same time, they are transformed into superheroes.

Wait, there’s more!
If you or your kid simply just cannot get enough of SpongeBob and superheroes after the movie, Nickelodeon will be airing a “Champ-packed” marathon of episodes from Nickelodeon shows featuring heroes-related storylines on Friday, 13 March at 4pm (HK/SG/TH/WIB) and 5pm (MY) before premiering a brand new episode of SpongeBob SquarePants.
Together with Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon also launched the all-new SpongeBob game SpongeBob: Sponge on the Run which was inspired by the movie too.
Below are more details for you to go SpongeBob crazy!
“Champ-packed” Marathon
The hero-themed marathon premieres on Friday, 13 March at 4pm (HK/SG/TH/WIB) and 5pm (MY) and consists of episodes from Nickelodeon’s shows including The Thundermans, Henry Danger, Kung Fu Panda, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. These episodes contain heroes-related storylines and a brand new episode of SpongeBob SquarePants with the same theme will premiere on the channel. In this episode, an imprisoned Plankton teams up with his fellow inmates to break out of jail in order to steal Mr Krabs’ secret formula and SpongeBob decides to intervene with the jailbreak plot. The second part sees SpongeBob replacing his broken spatula with one from Plankton, which may or may not have magical powers.
