Xperience Restaurant & Bar at Sofitel SO Singapore

One of the signature chef creation at Experience in Sofitel So Singapore

For those working in the CBD in Singapore and looking for a little pampering during lunch, why not head over to Xperience Restaurant & Bar at Sofitel SO Singapore?

The hotel is particularly nostalgic to me as the same building used to house the office for advertising giant, Ogilvy & Mather in Singapore, my first real job after completing my university education. I have not stepped back into this building for almost ten years!

I had an awesome hosted lunch about a month ago at Xperience with the sweet folks from Accor Group, which manage the Sofitel hotels, among other hospitality properties.

Here are the items I sampled from their signature menu, priced at S$75++:

Signature menu
Foie Gras and Truffles Siew Mai
Interesting combination of East meets West
Lobster and scallops laksa risotto
Duck confit from the Lunch Formule menu
Braised wagyu short ribs
Close-up on the premium ingredient

There is a more wallet-friendly special weekday “Lunch Formule” which offers a set price weekly new menu for convenient, good value business lunches at S$38++ for 2 courses, and S$43++ for 3 courses.

I didn’t try the dessert item as I have to rush off for a meeting, but it should be just as impressive as the appertisers and the main courses. East meets west creations tend to fall flat because of the strange mix of flavours, but the Foie Gras and Truffles Siew Mai as well as the Lobsters and Scallops Laksa Risotto were blended harmoniously in flavours. I particular enjoyed the latter which was not only a really pretty dish to look at and brought out a different dimension to the familiar laksa flavour we grew up with.

The restaurant is helmed by French executive chef and resident culinary designer, Anne-Cecile Degenne, who embraces an avant-garde approach to both the menu design and dining experiences.

Portions are creatively offered in sizes of XS (single tasting); XM (personal portion); or XL (sharing portions). In addition, dishes are assembled under separate groupings of texture and taste such as “crunchy”; “zesty”; “smoky” and “spicy”. These allows diners to customise their culinary indulgence according to taste, texture and portion size. Perfect for those with discerning tastebuds. 🙂
