Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) or the newly opened KLIA2 aren’t exactly near downtown KL.
In fact, it’s close to an hour’s drive away.
And the rail service from KL Sentral to the airport doesn’t start operating till 5.33am.
So what do you do when you have an early morning flight?
Camp overnight at the airport or wake up super early and end up at the airport groggy-eyed?
Well, now there’s one more option – the newly opened Tune Hotel klia2.
With 400 rooms, the hotel is directly connected to the new klia2 terminal via a covered walkway and link bridge (you can walk from your room to the check-in counters in around 10 minutes).
And it’s also linked to the Gateway@klia2 shopping mall.
But more importantly, how’s the hotel?
Well, for its price range (ard $58 for a double room on tunehotels.com and S$63 on Agoda.com), it more than exceeded my expectations.
First of all, I was taken aback by the hotel’s spacious lobby upon check-in.
There is also a huge open-air courtyard lounge which is overlooked by a 24-hour restaurant and beverage centre.
The rooms, too, more than passed muster with its comfortable bed and 32-inch flat screen LED TV.
But if you’re on a short transit, you can also opt for the ‘Refresher Package’ at the hotel.
This option is available between 9am to 6pm daily.
However, I do have one minor quibble with the hotel – I was only able to connect to Wifi at certain areas within the property.
Hopefully that’s a kink that they’ll be able to sort out before long.
