The Koreans know how to serve some of the best fried chicken.
Chicken Up is a casual Korean restaurant in Tanjong Pagar that specialises in fried chicken and different kinds of soju (소주; 燒酒), a distilled beverage native to Korea.
At Chicken Up, the fried chicken here was picked in a local news report as the best Korean fried chicken in a blind taste test among a few prominent brands. How good is their fried chicken? Let’s just say I regret not discovering Chicken Up earlier as they have been in Tanjong Pagar for a few years!
Here are some of the items I tried:
Personally, my favourite was the Yangnyum Chicken for the delightful mix of flavours. The prices may seem a bit steep for fried chicken if you compare them to mass market fast food chains. However note that each order is freshly fried.
The soju goes well with the fried chicken. Particularly beautiful in presentation and delightful in taste is the watermelon soju.
For the fried chicken aficionados, Chicken Up serves a very popular Fried Chicken Buffet, available at $25+ per pax. Order and eat all the fried chicken you can!
