Yesterday, Tigerair, Singapore’s homegrown and largest no frills airline, ushers in the Lunar New Year with a host of auspicious giveaways worth S$80,000 taking place both in the air, and on the ground.
From 30 January to 1 February, over 1,500 lucky passengers and taxi drivers will receive Tigerair hongbaos containing flight vouchers worth a total of S$80,000 valued at between S$28 and S$888.
Group CEO of Tigerair Mr Koay Peng Yen said, “As part of the Singapore community, Tigerair is pleased to help spread the festive joy among our passengers and taxi drivers here. We hope that the hongbaos we are putting in their hands will also put a smile on their faces, and herald in more good fortune for everyone.”
Inflight surprises await passengers on board more than 130 Tigerair flights from 30 January to 1 February, with special lucky draws taking place over 30,000 feet above ground where passengers stand a chance to win Tigerair hongbaos.
This morning, all 157 passengers on board Tigerair’s first Taipei-bound flight came face to face with the the quintessential Lunar New Year character – the God of Fortune (财神爷) God of Fortune and received an assortment of hongbaos, courtesy of Tigerair. Eight lucky passengers each received a flight voucher valued at S$888.
One of the lucky eight, Mr Lee Kin Kit, 36, already has his eyes set on the Maldives, Tigerair’s newest destination that he and his family has never visited before. Mr Lee shares that it has always been a little tradition for a family getaway every year during the Lunar New Year period, ever since he was young.
“This is really an unexpected surprise for all passengers! We didn’t expect the giveaways to be so attractive and to even win the top prize of the $888 flight voucher! We will definitely continue to support Tigerair,” said Mr Lee.
Besides spreading the festive jubilation to its passengers, Tigerair also spread festive cheers to taxi drivers together with the National Taxi Association.
Earlier this morning, Group CEO of Tigerair Mr Koay Peng Yen joined Mr Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Health, and other guests at the National Taxi Association’s annual Chinese New Year visit to taxi drivers. Hongbaos were distributed to 1,000 taxi drivers at Changi Airport Terminals, including Terminal 2 where Tigerair is based.
Added Mr Koay, “Taxi drivers play an important part in our customers’ travel journey, connecting them to Tigerair by ferrying them between the airport and their homes or hotel. As Singapore’s friendly neighborhood airline, we hope that these travel vouchers can bring to our taxi counterparts some relief from the long hours behind the wheel by enabling them to take a short vacation abroad.”
