I visited Geneva in Switzerland last year, staying for two nights at the magnificent Swissotel Metropole Geneva hotel:
The luxurious five-star Swissotel Metropole Geneva is located on the left bank of lake Geneva, overlooking the lake.
It is located right in the heart of the central business and shopping districts and a short walk from many of Geneva’s attractions like the Jet d’eau (jet fountain which can be seen from the hotel) and the old town.
I traveled to the hotel taking a train from Vevey to Geneva and then changing to a short bus ride that took less than ten minutes. The hotel was very easy to locate and convenient to get to as stated on their website.
Swissotel Metropole Geneva has just undergone a major renovation for some of their rooms to cater to younger, upmarket travelers.
I got a pleasant surprise when I checked into my room the first night. From the Swissotel website, I was expecting a more tradition European room design.
Instead, here is how the new rooms look like:
Pretty spiffy isn’t it?
I would be just as comfortable staying in their more traditionally designed rooms, but the new contemporary room suits me better.
I am a heavy geek who likes to travels with many tech gadgets – at least two smart phones; an iPad, a Kindle or another tablet device; a laptop; two cameras – one DSLR and one light-weight compact; a small HD video recorder and maybe a few other items at the very least.
I appreciate hotel rooms where I can set up all my gadgets and create my own temporary work station like what is available here at Swissotel Geneva:
Neat.
This is the most complete AV and electronic set-up I have encountered in all the hotels I have stayed so far.
Best of all, they even have cables for me to wire my laptop to their swanky television-in-a-mirror. I can watch TV shows and movies in my laptop on a HD screen in the comfort of my bed:
Best of all, I can multi-task by getting dressed, looking into the mirror while watching television at the same time.
There is plenty of other nifty tech stuff for me to toy around in the hotel room:
I am a happy man!
In fact, after I checked in the first night, I skipped exploring the city for the night as I was more keen to explore and enjoy my night stay in Swissotel Metropole Geneva.
Via the official site: the hotel offers a 111 appointed guest rooms and 16 luxurious suites. It also includes a business centre catering for all kinds of events. There are seven meeting and banquet rooms with natural daylight and two panoramic rooftop terraces with stunning views over Geneva.
I did not check out the business facilities, but I did went to take a look at the gym:
I had my breakfast on the next two mornings at Swissotel Metropole Geneva’s restaurant Le Grand Quai which presents pretty fine culinary choices:
If you are interested to stay at Swissotel Metropole Geneva when visiting Switzerland, book your accommodation online at Swissotel’s official site to enjoy the best rates, guaranteed.
Stay tuned to my next post where I will share my Geneva city tour experience. 🙂
