Yeo’s can’t tell the difference between the Chinese New Year and Seventh Month

Chinese New Year or Seventh Month?

The evidence is clear from Yeo’s latest series of outdoor print ads to promote their drinks for the coming Chinese New Year.

Or are these early ads to usher in the Seventh Month Ghost Festival instead?

Another two hideous variations of the ad

I passed by these hideous ads twice recently at Toa Payoh MRT Station. They bothered me enough to stop and take some photos the second time.

What has Chinese opera got to do with Chinese New Year? I do recall Chinese opera being performed at some of the Seventh Month Getai though.

Kua Tio Gui! Fancy seeing this in the MRT train station at night!
Look at her evil grin and that other transparent ghost in the background!

Even if Chinese opera was deployed in the visuals to connote festivity, the talent’s make-up and expressions are sloppy and badly executed, making her look more like a washed out Chinese ghost than a happy well-wisher. Don’t you agree?
