Food for Thought @ Queen Street

Food for Thought @ 8Q SAM

Rachel and I first dined at Food for Thought on the night of our shared birthday on 26 October. We quite enjoyed dining there and was back again a few days later on Halloween night.

We like the avant-garde feel to the restaurant. The interior decor is chic, yet not overly pretentious. Food for Thought is located just in front of 8Q SAM, the museum for contemporary art in Singapore, making it a convenient dining stop for artsy folks.

It is easily accessible, located within 5 minutes walking distance from the Bras Basah MRT Station on the Circle Line.

The menu is modern western, with a selection of the standard pastas, sandwiches, meat dishes and cake deserts.

Plain water is supposedly “free”, with a $2 donation per table, in support of Living Water International. This is in line with the restaurant’s policy to donate part of their earnings for charitable causes. You can read more about about the causes supported by Food for Thought on their official website.

During our two visits to the restaurant, Rachel and I managed to try the following four mains: Garlic Prawns with Coriander Linguine; Chunky Sausage & Tomato Linguine; Calamari, Prawn & Salmon Risotto and Crispy Curry Chicken & Spicy Chili Fries.

We particularly enjoyed the risotto and crispy curry chicken and would recommend these two dishes.

For desert, we tried their Butterscotch Apple & Mixed Berries Crumble. This was sinfully good, and we got hooked on it the first time round, ordering it again during our second visit.

Rachel also ordered a cider on our first visit to go with her meal. I am not a fan of beers and ciders, hence I just took a few token sips. Rachel seemed to enjoy her drink very much though.

We were given these tasty, cute-looking Chocolate and Orange cookies on Halloween night, FOC

Given the convenient location, artsy crowd, quaint ambient and decent food, it is likely that Rachel and I will visit the restaurant again. Prices are around $25+ per pax, without drinks, with GST and service charge. 🙂
