Keng Eng Kee Seafood Restaurant @ Alexandra Village

Keng Eng Kee Seafood

Keng Eng Kee Seafood is a Cze Cha restaurant that has received rave reviews from many food critics and has a strong following of regular diners.

Together with my parents, Rachel and I dined there a few weekends back. We ordered their signature Mingzhu Rolls, a crisp fried seafood and mushroom tofu pillow served with chilli and mayonnaise; vegetable with Ikan Billis; Steamed fish head in black bean paste and signature tofu served with minced meat.

The bill came to less than $50 for four. There’s no service charge or GST. A real value-for-money place to dine if you were to ask me.

Moreover, the food was excellent. My parents enjoyed the fish head dish so much that they cleaned up the fish to the very last morsel. The black bean paste was not overbearing such that it covers the natural taste of fish.

Signature Mingzhu Rolls

The Mingzhu rolls are nice to look at and provides an interesting assortment of taste with each bite. Not surprising as the rolls consist of a whole lot of vastly different ingredient from ham to mushroom to seafood.

The other two dishes were good, but not particularly memorable. We vow to go back again in a bigger group so we can try out more of the Cze Cha dishes from the wide selection available in their menu.

We dined there on a weekend at around 9pm. The lady taking our order told us that this was the best time to come as the dinner crowd has mostly cleared and we need not wait too long for the food (our orders came in less than 15 minutes; the usual wait is at least half an hour).

Not too sure how to read the first two characters of their chinese name... anyone can help?
