Restaurant entrance

Pasta Inc. is an Italian restaurant that just opened a few months ago in Jalan Besar, tucked amidst a stretch of backpacker hostels and car repair shops.

It is not really accessible by public transport as it faces a one-way road. We didn’t spot any parking lots nearby too, if you are thinking of driving there. Hence the location is really a puzzle to Rachel and I when we visited the restaurant.

The owner is a friendly young chap who used to work in the Singapore Air Force. The restaurant offers a wide selection or wine and it’s a pity that Rachel and I are not wine connoisseurs.

We ordered two pastas, an appetiser and a salad. The total bill came to around S$60 for two persons. A tad pricey considering the super ulu location, but the food was excellent. We particularly like the squid ink pasta which is not usually offered in most pasta restaurants. The sauce was not too salty or lemak.

The service was excellent – there was only one waitress and the boss when we visited. Both of them were extremely friendly and highly attentive to our needs, even making small chat and explaining to us what ingredients go into the pasta.

The ambience is good too as it’s quiet and cosy.

I think Pasta Inc. is a good place for couples to visit when they want a quiet, romantic time together in a hidden restaurant serving quality Italian food that’s not in the crowded town area. A rather niche spot. I sincerely hope the restaurant will survive before our second visit and not close down due to the ulu location. 🙂
