Have you heard of 迷路兵 (Mi Lu Bin) or 潘嘉丽 (Kelly Poon)?
The first is the winner of local reality TV show, Superband and the latter was the runner-up in the first installation of Project Superstar.
They are both not really famous yet, and hence can be termed as half-baked stars. I went to watch them perform at two different locations today; following Rachel who was covering the performances for her work.
迷路兵 performed at an ulu location in Suntec called “My Playground” – tucked behind Toys ‘R’ Us. There’s not much natural crowd here, and they were lucky they still managed to attract a small group of young fans.
Here are some photos I took.

A better photo
The photo quality is quite horrible as I can’t be bothered to go up close as I am not really interested in them. 迷路兵‘s performance was quite bad by the way, and the sound system screwed up from the beginning till end. The trio did not have much star appeal and were not too professional with their performance – constantly pausing to ask the audience if they can hear their singing, mumbling to each other with poor enunciation, etc.
Strangely, it was mentioned they were nominated for 6 awards at the YES933 Hits Music Award. Sure or not? They seem pretty green and amateurish to me… the only saving grace for them is that they were humble, polite and arrived on time.
Following that, I proceed to Bugis Junction to watch Kelly Poon perform. The show started almost half an hour late. This sucks. I hate people who are not punctual. However, her performance was much better with good singing and a strong stage presence.
Here are some photos. Again, pardon the poor quality as I was standing quite far from the stage with a consumer pocket camera.
“Hi everyone, I am Kelly and I like to be late!”

The crowd is much larger at Bugis Junction due to the better location with high human traffic flow. Overall, it was a much better performance and more professional. However, it did not excite me either and I was really more interested in reading a novel I just bought at Kinokuniya than listen to her singing.
This sums up my experience of being a groupie for half-baked stars on a boring Saturday. I did not buy any of their CDs and could not remember the title of any of the songs in their newest album. Sad hor? Don’t know follow for what. 🙁

I'm worried about Kelly leh. She's really hardworking, but I've received many negative comments about her CD. But I've noticed that her live performances are of better quality than CD.
It wasn't her fault that she was late la. There was another event previously and they had to change the backdrop blablabla. Plus it was the artiste management's idea for her to enter late. Maybe is to wait for crowd to gather.
Alvin Lim, I am also not punctual for you most of the time leh... :(
Late means late. No excuses - poster said 6pm performance will start, but she came at around 6.45pm. :)
