Have any of you out there received a copy of the Epoch Times newspaper before?
Back when I was still working in the Shenton Way area, there were old aunties and uncles distributing Epoch Times for free at Raffles Place MRT station during the morning rush hour.
I recalled receiving a few copies and were puzzled who published the paper as the news were reasonably well written and appeared to be churned out by a proper newsroom. It is also bilingual in content – presented in both English and Mandarin. There are only two media companies in Singapore that can pull off something like that – SPH and Mediacorp. Yet, neither of them claimed ownership.
Who published the Epoch Times?
Well, I recently found out over the Internet that Epoch Times is backed by Falun Gong activists and their head office is in Hong Kong.
Hence I will presume that the free copies of the Epoch Times that I received were illegal and MICA or MDA probably doesn’t approve of them. (The aunties and uncles giving away the free sheets must have been Falun Gong activists)
What a strange sight to see in Singapore! Illegal free sheets!
Pity I threw my copies away! Anyone of you still have any copies of the Epoch Times?
