Australia has officially brought its highly acclaimed wellness brand to our shores with the opening of BODHI Spa at The Laurus, a Luxury Collection Resort in Resorts World Sentosa.
Founded in Australia back in 2007 by Danny Taylor, this marks the brand’s eighth location and its very first international debut. The name BODHI translates to awakening in Sanskrit, which sets the tone for a space designed to inspire and empower guests toward better health through holistic and immersive therapies.
Nestled within the lush tropical surroundings of Sentosa, the spa aims to present ancient bathing traditions with modern touchless wellness technologies to present a different kind of luxury wellness experience.
Visiting the spa on a Saturday afternoon felt like a mini escapade out of the main Singapore island. Getting to the resort is slightly out of the way if you are not driving, and visitors should note that complimentary parking is not provided for spa guests.
The facility is thoughtfully designed with six appointed treatment rooms, which include two exclusive VIP suites featuring private ensuites and steam showers.
We started our session with the Private VIP Bathhouse. This costs an initial S$100 for individual and S$50 for an additional person. Unlike many other spas in Singapore that offer communal wet facilities, this bathhouse is entirely private. Designed for individuals or couples seeking a more exclusive wellness experience, the facility combines traditional contrast therapy elements including a sauna, jacuzzi and cold pail shower.
The concept is simple but effective. Moving between the heat of the sauna, the soothing warmth of the jacuzzi and the invigorating cold plunge creates a cycle designed to stimulate circulation, promote relaxation and ease muscle tension.
The privacy of the space elevates the experience significantly. Without other guests around, it becomes easier to disconnect from daily distractions and fully immerse oneself in the therapeutic rhythm of the session.
Following the bathhouse experience, we proceeded to the Bodhi Tension Release Massage 60 Minutes (S$260) specifically designed to address muscular tightness and stress.
The professionalism of the therapist is highly commendable. Before the massage began, he took the time to understand any medical conditions, physical concerns and areas requiring additional attention. The consultation was thorough without feeling intrusive, striking a balance between personalisation and comfort.
Having habitual neck and shoulder tension from extended hours spent working at a computer facing desk, I highlighted these problem areas during the consultation. Throughout the treatment, the therapist paid particular attention to those areas, adjusting pressure and techniques accordingly rather than simply following a standard routine.
The massage room itself reflected the spa’s broader design philosophy, combining understated luxury with a calming atmosphere. Soft lighting, soothing scents and a tranquil environment helped create the conditions for complete relaxation.
At one point during the treatment, I drifted off to sleep, which is perhaps one of the strongest endorsements a spa can receive. By the end of the session, the persistent tightness around my shoulders and neck was eased, leaving me feeling rested and refreshed.
We were then ushered to a well-designed rest area which afforded guests with some privacy while we were served with light snack and tea.
Beyond traditional spa treatments, BODHI Spa also differentiates itself through a range of wellness technologies not commonly found in Singapore spas. Facilities include the ZeroBody Dry Float 20 Minutes (S$120), which simulates the sensation of weightless floating while incorporating guided meditation and acoustic therapy, as well as the Recovery Red Light Pod 20 Minutes (S$120) designed to support cellular recovery, improve sleep quality and promote overall wellbeing.
For skincare, they offer premium treatments like the Hydrate Renewal Facial 60 Minutes (S$290) and the firming Thermal Luminosity Facial 90 Minutes (S$480).
For those seeking a premium spa day, a romantic couple’s retreat or simply a few hours to disconnect and recharge, BODHI Spa at The Laurus delivers a polished and thoughtfully curated experience.
