i Light Singapore 2026 Returns to Marina Bay with Immersive Installations Inspired by Movement

Singapore’s signature light festival, i Light Singapore 2026, will return from 5 to 28 June 2026, lighting up Marina Bay and extending to Raffles Place for a multi venue experience. Organised by the Urban Redevelopment Authority and presented by UOB, this year’s edition will feature 14 light art installations by 17 artists, transforming the waterfront into an open air gallery that spotlights regional creative talent from Singapore and across Asia.

Built around the theme of Movement, the festival invites visitors to explore how motion and interaction can shape both art and environment. From subtle gestures to immersive participation, each installation encourages reflection on how small actions can create ripple effects. The line-up blends sensory experiences with storytelling, ranging from tranquil interpretations of nature to playful and interactive displays.

Among the highlights is WAVE by Masamichi Shimada from Japan, located at The Promontory, where visitors can tap silver sticks to generate ripples of light and sound that mimic raindrops. At the Mist Walk, Where the Wildflowers Grow by Singapore artists Kester Wong and Tan Shao Qi features a field of illuminated blooms crafted from reclaimed materials, gently responding to touch with rhythmic light.

Interactive works continue along the Marina Bay Lower Boardwalk, where Let’s Fish the Sun! by Wentao Wang from China allows visitors to simulate reeling in the sun, shifting the horizon’s glow in a playful reversal of sunset. At the Event Plaza, Cube Graphics by Cyril Lancelin from France presents an inflatable geometric structure that changes form as visitors move through it. Over at Marina Bay Link Mall, Infinite Graffiti by Graffiti+ from Canada, created in collaboration with Families for Life, transforms a digital wall into a shared canvas where visitors can create evolving artwork using sensor activated spray tools. Nearby, Silent Moments by Slovakian collective BN label captures everyday interactions through illuminated silhouettes, encouraging visitors to become part of the display as they move through the space.

This year also introduces i Light Future, a new mentorship programme presented by the DesignSingapore Council aimed at nurturing emerging creatives in light, design, and technology. Guided by Craig Neo of A&C Atelier, selected participants have developed installations that will debut at the festival. These include Market Cycles by Singapore artists Tan Mei Yee and Ng Choon Wee, which transforms everyday market crates into a glowing installation, and Steps by Nawal Bte Azhar, a symbolic structure reflecting Singapore’s collective progress.

Complementing the art installations, GastroBeats returns to the Bayfront Event Space as the festival’s main hub, celebrating its fifth anniversary with a mix of food, music, and activities. Visitors can expect up to 40 food vendors, live performances, pickleball matches held in partnership with the EPIC World Championship, arcade games, and an elevated dining zone set against the city skyline.

Running daily from 7.30pm to 10.30pm, i Light Singapore 2026 offers free admission, with selected programmes ticketed.
