Hilton has officially opened the Canopy by Hilton Okinawa Miyako Island Resort, marking the brand’s first resort in the Asia Pacific region. The new property brings Canopy’s signature mix of locally inspired design, social lifestyle spaces, and relaxed hospitality to one of Japan’s most scenic island destinations.
Situated in the Twuriba district of Miyako Island City, the resort is conveniently located around 15 minutes by car from Miyako Airport and 25 minutes from Miyako Shimojishima Airport. It also offers easy access to downtown Miyako Island and the iconic Irabu Ohashi Bridge, placing guests close to the island’s famous coastal views and natural landscapes.
The resort features 306 guest rooms, designed to suit a variety of travel needs. Accommodation options range from 35-square-metre Guest Rooms and Deluxe Rooms with private balconies, to spacious 102-square-metre Suites complete with separate living and bedroom areas.
Across 11 room types, each space is designed as a relaxed retreat that reflects the island’s slow-paced lifestyle, allowing guests to unwind in comfort while taking in the surrounding scenery.
Food and beverage offerings at the resort highlight Miyako Island’s seasonal ingredients and Okinawan culinary heritage, with four distinct dining and social venues.
At the heart of the culinary experience is MA-SANS BEACH HOUSE, a light-filled space that transforms throughout the day, from breakfast buffets to customizable poke bowls at lunch, and Japanese tapas-style dining in the evening.
The resort also features CHIIKII, a grill restaurant focusing on locally sourced, seasonal produce, and SUNBEAR DAY CLUB, a rooftop social hub offering tropical cocktails, music, and light bites paired with panoramic views of the Irabu Ohashi Bridge and the island’s sunset skyline.
From May 2026, guests will also be able to enjoy THE ROUND, an outdoor lawn space designed for private barbecues and social gatherings.
Beyond dining and accommodation, the resort offers a range of lifestyle facilities for guests of all ages.
The SHIMA SPROUTS FAMILY ZONE serves as a family-friendly kids’ club featuring interactive play areas and activities for both children and adults. For those seeking relaxation, RETREAT provides a quiet space to unwind before departure.
A 24-hour ocean-view fitness centre is also available, allowing guests to maintain their wellness routines while overlooking the surrounding sea.
Canopy by Hilton now operates nearly 50 properties across 14 countries and territories. The Okinawa Miyako Island opening follows the brand’s Japan debut in 2024 with Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda, with further expansion planned, including Canopy by Hilton Tokyo Akasaka in 2028.
The new resort is part of the Hilton Honors loyalty programme, which allows members booking directly through Hilton channels to access benefits such as flexible payment options using Points and cash, exclusive member discounts, and complimentary standard Wi-Fi.
