McDonald’s Singapore Hosts Inclusive Buka Puasa Gathering for Nearly 200 Guests

McDonald’s Singapore marked the spirit of Ramadan with a meaningful community celebration, welcoming close to 200 guests from ComLink+ families and residents in Marsiling for a special Buka Puasa gathering. The event took place at Our Greenview Hub in Woodlands, bringing together Muslim families observing the fasting month and non-Muslim neighbours to share the experience of breaking fast and strengthen community bonds.

Held in collaboration with Families for Life, the Ministry of Social and Family Development, People’s Association, and the Health Promotion Board, the event aimed to create a space where families and neighbours could connect, build friendships, and celebrate the diversity that defines Singapore’s communities.

The evening was attended by Zaqy Mohamad, Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, who also serves as Adviser to the Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC Grassroots Organisations. During the event, he interacted warmly with families and residents, joining in conversations and festivities.

A Shared Meal to Break the Fast

Guests were treated to a specially prepared Buka Puasa meal featuring popular McDonald’s favourites, including McCrispy Burger, Filet-O-Fish, and sharing boxes filled with the newly launched Spicy Chicken Tenders and Chicken McNuggets.

Beyond enjoying the meal together, families also took part in activities designed to deepen understanding of Ramadan. Guests wrote heartfelt messages of hope for the community and participated in a Buka Puasa trivia segment, learning more about the meaning and traditions behind the holy month.

“Light a Lamp, Share a Table” Initiative

The gathering also highlighted McDonald’s Singapore’s ongoing “Light a Lamp, Share a Table” initiative. Introduced across restaurants islandwide from 19 February, the initiative features specially designed table lamps placed on dining tables to signal that customers are open to sharing their seats with those breaking fast.

The simple gesture transforms empty seats into invitations for connection, encouraging strangers to come together over a meal while fostering inclusivity and cross-cultural understanding.

Strengthening Community Through Shared Moments

Through initiatives like the Buka Puasa gathering and “Light a Lamp, Share a Table,” McDonald’s Singapore continues to promote meaningful community experiences that bring people together.
