HSBC SVNS Singapore 2026, affectionately dubbed the “Family SVNS”, has unveiled its official ambassadors and match schedule as it prepares to welcome the world’s best rugby sevens teams to Singapore. Set to take place on 31 January and 1 February 2026 at the National Stadium at The Kallang, the highly anticipated tournament will once again be staged alongside the Southeast Asian 7s (SEA 7s), reinforcing Singapore’s position as a regional hub for rugby.
Adding star power to the landmark weekend are three global rugby sevens icons: Ruby Tui, Nathan Hirayama and Jerry Tuwai, who have been appointed as official ambassadors for the event. Their involvement underscores the tournament’s strong focus on family, community and accessibility, hallmarks of Singapore’s signature rugby celebration.
As ambassadors, Ruby Tui, Nathan Hirayama and Jerry Tuwai will play an active role throughout the week, engaging fans through community-focused activities, meet-and-greet sessions and youth interactions both on and off the field.
Jerry Tuwai, the former Fiji Sevens captain, brings an exceptional legacy to the role. A two-time Olympic gold medallist, Sevens World Cup winner and the World Rugby Men’s Sevens Player of the Decade in 2020, Tuwai is also a passionate advocate for the sport’s role in social development. He serves as an ambassador for the Get into Rugby Plus Fiji programme, which uses rugby as a platform to promote positive behaviour, gender equality and the prevention of violence against women, girls and boys.
New Zealand’s Ruby Tui is equally celebrated for her achievements and impact. An Olympic gold medallist, Women’s Rugby World Cup winner and Rugby World Cup Sevens champion, Tui is known for her infectious energy and unwavering commitment to growing the game, particularly among young players and women.
Completing the trio is Nathan Hirayama, a former Canada Sevens captain and Olympic flag bearer. A fan favourite in Singapore, Hirayama famously led Canada to victory at the HSBC Singapore Sevens in 2017, earning Player of the Final honours. Since stepping away from international competition, he has remained deeply involved in rugby through leadership, coaching and mentoring roles, while inspiring the next generation as a speaker and advocate for high-performance pathways.
Together, the ambassadors will champion the values of inclusion, connection and community that define HSBC SVNS Singapore’s family-friendly experience.
Organisers have also revealed the fixtures for HSBC SVNS Singapore 2026. The tournament will open on 31 January with France (Women) taking on Canada (Women), while the first men’s match of the event will see France (Men) face New Zealand (Men) later that day.
As the first SVNS stop of 2026, the Singapore leg will set the celebratory tone for the season ahead. The inclusion of the SEA 7s finals further strengthens the local rugby ecosystem, giving fans the chance to rally behind regional teams while enjoying a premium sports carnival experience designed for all ages.
Held alongside HSBC SVNS Singapore 2026, the SEA 7s finals will return to the National Stadium at The Kallang on 31 January 2026. Organised by the Singapore Rugby Union, the open invitational tournament brings together eight Southeast Asian nations, offering regional teams a rare opportunity to compete on a world-class stage alongside elite international players.
The Singapore Women’s Rugby 7s team returns as defending SEA 7s champions after clinching their first-ever title last year. Their historic victory inspired many young girls and families to take up the sport, and the team will be aiming to defend their crown on home soil.
Strong contenders are expected across the field. The Thailand Men’s Rugby 7s team arrive as reigning SEA 7s champions and Southeast Asian Games 2025 gold medallists, while Malaysia’s men’s and women’s teams, both runners-up at SEA 7s 2025, are determined to go one step further this year.
