OH! Open House Returns with OH! Moonstone Artwalk: Exploring Change and Continuity in the City

OH! Open House is back with the 12th edition of its flagship artwalk, OH! Moonstone: Everything Changes, Everything Stays the Same, inviting visitors to pause and reflect on what endures amid the constant transformations of urban life. Running from 18 to 25 January 2026 along Moonstone Lane, the event highlights the hidden layers of memory, connection, and resilience in a neighbourhood shaped by decades of adaptation and rebuilding.

Discovering Stories in Everyday Spaces

Moonstone Lane may appear unassuming at first glance, but walking through it reveals a rich tapestry of domestic life, industry, and communal histories. The artwalk features five site-specific installations by Singaporean and international artists, encouraging visitors to consider how ordinary spaces accumulate meaning over time, even as the city continues to change.

Zoned as residential on paper for decades, but reality on the ground tells a very different story

Highlights include:

  • A 1950s home occupied by the same family for over seven decades, where photography and personal recollections explore care, loss, and memory.
  • MUYI Carpentry Atelier, showcasing the persistence of craft and artistic practice amid urban change.
  • Daily Diecast, where a vast collection of miniature cars becomes a meditation on devotion, tactility, and community-building.
  • A large-scale outdoor installation on a green patch, reflecting the constant reshaping and reclassification of land.
  • Encounters with living heritage sites such as Lau Clan House, Sin Choon Huat Temple, and Poh Leng Building, highlighting the neighbourhood as a layered, evolving community rather than static monuments.
  • Ang Song Nian – Large-scale, biodegradable outdoor installations mapping land and transformation.
  • Jarupatcha Achavasmit – Textile-based works exploring collecting, tactility, and emotional devotion.
  • Milenko Prvački – Portraits of artistic life shaped by labour, material, and time.
  • Robert Zhao Renhui – Photography-based installations examining memory, care, and urban change.

A Reflection on Transformation and Memory

OH! Moonstone emphasizes that change and continuity coexist. By stepping into homes, workplaces, and personal collections, visitors are invited to rethink what it means to belong to a place. The artwalk demonstrates that the most compelling urban stories often lie not in landmarks, but in the overlooked corners where life quietly continues.
