[Review] Wagyu Made Accessible as Steak Sudaku Introduces Omi Beef in Telok Ayer

Steak Sudaku, Singapore’s largest and only importer of Omi beef, has opened a new outlet in Telok Ayer, bringing wagyu down to CBDs at affordable prices. And it’s not just any wagyu, it’s Omi beef, one of the top three most prestigious varieties of wagyu in Japan alongside Kobe and Matsusaka.

The brand imports Omi beef directly from Shiga Prefecture and serves premium wagyu steaks from just $16.80++, offering what it says is one third of the usual market price. For a limited period, diners can also enjoy a full four course meal by adding only $1 for free flow Japanese rice, salad and Omi beef stock with any main.

Omi beef production process

The brand is known for its dedication to authentic wagyu prepared in a fast casual format. Founded in Japan by CEO Takaoki Nishino, Steak Sudaku aims to make high quality Omi beef accessible to a wider audience while maintaining exceptional standards. The company now operates three outlets across Singapore at Telok Ayer, Beach Road and Killiney Road.

At Steak Sudaku, customers can explore a full range of cuts including the A5 Regular Wagyu Steak at $29.80++ for 150 grams, the A5 Grade Wagyu Lean Steak at $34.80++ for 150 grams and the A5 Grade Marbled Omi Beef Steak at $39.80++ for 150 grams. For those seeking the most premium experience, the A5 Omi Beef Tenderloin Steak is priced at $198.80++ for 200 grams.

Steak Sudaku’s Menu

The restaurant has also introduced Singapore’s first Omi Beef Gyukatsu.

Priced at $42.80++, the dish features deep fried Omi beef steak coated in a golden crisp crust while remaining perfectly medium rare inside.

It is crispy and tender beyond belief, with the meat almost offering no resistance as yur teeth sink down in onto it. Out of all the dishes we tried at Steak Sudaku, this was, in our opinion, the most delicious.

Hamburg lovers are also able to indulge in this restaurant, for they can gorge on their A5 Omi Beef Hamburg Steak at $24.80 for 150 grams, coming with a small side of wedges and vegetables. It’s served on a hot plate as the staff drizzle ketchup over the hamburg, allowing for quite an experience.

You can tell that it tastes like wagyu, with the beef being rather tender. But be sure to eat fast, or it’ll overcook on the hot plate and lose that nice tenderness.

The expansion into Singapore marks the company’s first overseas franchise. Steak Sudaku has plans to grow to ten outlets locally before expanding to markets such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Shanghai, Macau and Mongolia. The brand’s mission remains consistent across all destinations: to bring authentic Japanese wagyu to everyday diners at approachable prices.

They also have a new addition to their menu, their A5 Lean Wagyu Beef Mountain Rice at $119.80, now at 50% off for a limited time period!

It’s egg on beef on beef on beef on vegetables on rice.

It’s a lot of premium beef. The quantity is definitely more than one person’s worth, and the beef slices are nicely cooked, juicy and delicious. There is a LOT of rice underneath the beef, so be sure to manage each bite or you might be left with a mountain of rice with no beef left to accompany you, or you may have a mountain of beef with no rice to fight back against the ‘jelak-ness’.

Overall, come here if you’re looking for premium beef and a good deal! The portions are pretty large and will definitely fill your stomach with wagyu at a reasonable price.
