This Christmas season, the celebrations can indeed feel grand and luxurious right by the river at Food Capital, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore. The restaurant, known for its wide selection of international cuisine and scenic views of the Singapore River, has rolled out its annual Yuletide Festive Buffet, presenting a lavish, all-encompassing spread designed to satisfy every festive craving. This is the full, quintessential multi-cultural Singapore buffet experience.
From fresh seafood to tender meat roasts, more fresh seafood (Japanese), Asian signatures and tasty desserts, it is the full buffet experience, perfect for enjoying with friends and families.
You can begin your feast with items from their colourful salad selection like we did,
or you could go straight for where the money’s at, seafood!
The freshly shucked oysters are a hot favourite, as are the usual suspects, lobsters and snow crab legs.
You could indulge in juicy, succulent meats.
There are succulent roasts such as traditional roasted turkey with cranberry or merlot jus, caramelised gammon ham, grain-fed beef ribeye with red‑wine jus, and pork ham with pineapple glaze. At live carving and hot stations, these meats are kept warm and tender.
Or you could go for the seafood, again, but Japanese this time.
The spread mixes in Asian choices and local dishes: from fragrant turkey rice to laksa or fish porridge, guests get a taste of familiar classics alongside the international fare. It presents a thoughtful balance that works well if you are dining with a group who might have different tastes.
How about your sides?
Would you like a serving of fragrant turkey rice adding to the festive cheers,
balance out your meal with healthy vegetables,
or go for more traditional dishes, like fish porridge or laksa?
And there’s still more room for meat.
After you finish your main meal, it is desserts galore, with crunchy croffles (croissant waffles) being served with a side of ice cream, cakes, and fruits.
Unrelated, but did I mention the humongous variety of cheeses?
The patisserie section offers an impressive rotation of sweets, from croffles served with ice cream to classic mince pies, traditional Christmas pudding, panna cotta, crowning it off with fruits, cheese platters, and seasonal cakes (like fruitcake or log cakes).
Overall, my personal favourite dishes were the ham and the turkey, which were surprisingly juicy considering I usually went into these types of meats expecting dry rubbery-ness. These are perfect in adding in the festive colours for the season.
I liked the fruitcake for dessert, although that may be my own personal bias to fruitcakes, and the freeflow drinks selection of hot teas, coffees, milk, and hot chocolate were nice in-between the gorges of meat and seafood dishe, leaving the buffet with an extremely heavy stomach.
For this lavish spread, the pricing is fairly competitive given the range and quality.
The buffet this festive season is priced from S$72++ for lunch (Monday to Saturday) and S$102++ for dinner (Sunday to Thursday), with dinner on Friday and Saturday at S$112++ per adult. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the dinner price rises to S$128++ per adult (children priced at half adult rate).
