Sing’theatre Brings Meta-Musical Magic to Singapore with Tony-Nominated [title of show] This April

What happens when two best friends decide to write a musical… about writing a musical? Singapore audiences are about to find out as Sing’theatre presents the hilarious, self-aware, and heartwarming Off-Broadway hit [title of show]. The production will run from 15 to 25 April 2026 at the Alliance Française Theatre.

Nominated for a Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical, [title of show] is a uniquely meta celebration of creativity, chaos, and the beautiful messiness of making art. Written by Jeff Bowen (music and lyrics) and Hunter Bell (book), the story follows Jeff and Hunter, two struggling writers who learn about a musical theatre festival with a submission deadline just three weeks away. With only a blank page and their shared ambition, they pull in their friends Susan and Heidi, plus their unflappable accompanist Larry, to help create a musical from scratch.

When Jeff pitches the idea of writing a musical about their own writing process, the group embarks on a fun, frantic, and deeply relatable creative adventure. Audiences will be treated to inside jokes, self-doubt, bursts of inspiration, and the emotional highs and lows that come with daring to make something original.

The Singapore staging is directed by Eric Larrea and produced by Nathalie Ribette, featuring a stellar homegrown cast: Andrew Marko, Daisy Anne, Rino Junior John, and Vanessa Kee. Together, they bring razor-sharp humour, heartfelt performances, and infectious energy to this compact four-person musical.
