[Review] From Satay-Marinated Turkey to Caviar Egg Tarts: One Farrer Hotel’s Christmas Experience at The Nest

There are festive meals, and then there is what the team at One Farrer Hotel has put together this year at its private-dining concept The Nest, where a cosy, elevated setting, live music, and a special Christmas menu combine to deliver what feels like a celebration crafted just for you.

On a recent dinner tasting I attended, we sampled their satay-marinated turkey, a festive centrepiece with a local flavour and an assortment of confectionery delights from the hotel’s confectionery team.

The setting itself felt special. The decor was plush, private, acoustically intimate, serenaded by a live singer whose soft jazz-tones filled the private hall. Think of dining in a high-end studio rather than the usual restaurant, and you will have an idea of what The Nest offers.

The Christmas menu for 2025 is especially thoughtful and indulgent, starting with a platter of house-bake bread with assorted flavoured butter.

The first course was a delicate canapé, an elegant Egg Tart crowned with caviar and crème fraiche.

Next up was an intense Foie Gras paired with mandarin and granola for extra crunch, drizzled with caramel.

A Gambas was then served in a whole pumpkin, filled with succulent prawns resting inside a sweet pumpkin purée.

For the first main, we were presented with the Glacier 51 Toothfish, a premium fish known for its buttery texture, served with garlic escargot and kale.

The meal culminates with a perfectly cooked Tenderloin wrapped with Radicchio and a Portobello mushroom, accompanied by Madeira sauce.

Overall, each dish from the Nest felt like a conversation in itself, presented with luxurious ingredients, unexpected pairings, and a consistent thread of holiday-rich warmth in the execution.

One of the other highlights in our tasting was the Satay-marinated Turkey (5.5kg, from S$188) from the confectionery/holiday menu side of One Farrer. While not part of the private five-course dinner per se, it complements the season’s festive offering beautifully: rich, spiced, warming and hearty.

The confectionery lineup also offers sweets, cakes and bundles for ordering if you would rather take home a piece of the magic. These are available with island-wide delivery or self-pick-up options. We would recommend the show-stopping Rainbow Choux Tower for gifting. The sweet marvel is as delicious as it is photogenic, with its tower of profiteroles filled with smooth cream.
