This October, Starbucks Singapore is rallying its partners, customers, and the wider community to spotlight mental wellness in conjunction with Mental Wellness Month.
Building on long-standing collaborations with the Health Promotion Board (HPB), The Salvation Army (TSA), and the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC), Starbucks will roll out a series of initiatives across its stores to spark conversations, raise awareness, and provide support resources for mental well-being.
Mental wellness remains a pressing priority in Singapore, with one in three young people facing significant challenges. Starbucks aims to nurture the power of human connection, transforming its cafés into safe spaces where meaningful conversations and supportive interactions can flourish.
Starbucks is teaming up with HPB to launch Language of Support — a campaign encouraging youths to practise supportive conversations in everyday life. Stores will introduce Cupples, cup sleeves that unfold into hand-shaped cut-outs symbolising warmth and connection. Installations at Plaza Singapura and Westgate will extend the dialogue beyond the cup, while interactive peer-support sessions at Starbucks NTU and 313@Somerset will engage students with practical mental wellness skills, complete with 1-for-1 Iced Shaken Latte treats.
In collaboration with Singapore artist Melissa Tan (Paintinks by Melt), Starbucks will debut a whimsical drinkware and journal collection featuring woodland illustrations that celebrate life’s little joys. Available exclusively in stores, $1 from each item sold will support Gardens by the Bay’s Gift of Gardens programme and MINDSET Care Limited, reinforcing the link between creativity, mindfulness, and community wellness.
On World Mental Health Day, Starbucks will donate 50 cents from every beverage sold across all outlets to TSA, marking 22 years of partnership. The funds will bolster TSA’s efforts in counselling, resilience-building, and care programmes for vulnerable youth and families.
At Starbucks Active Garden Community Store, AIC will host Human Library sessions and counselling programmes, offering participants the chance to hear real-life stories, connect with care professionals, and access self-care resources. Friendly befrienders from mindline.sg will also be on-site to engage visitors and share wellness tools.
Starbucks’ mental wellness advocacy is deeply ingrained in its culture. All store and office managers have been trained in peer-to-peer psychological first aid since 2023, while partners enjoy mental health coverage that includes psychological and psychiatric care. Over the years, initiatives like the Christmas Open House and the Starbucks Global Community Impact Grant have supported TSA, Food From The Heart, and other organisations that uplift communities through wellness and resilience-building.
