Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Musical to Make Southeast Asia Debut in Singapore

Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is set to make its Southeast Asia premiere at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands in May 2026.

Presented by Broadway International Group, Broadway Asia, and Base Entertainment Asia, the beloved story will be brought to life on stage with spectacular sets, dazzling costumes, and toe-tapping songs. Audiences can expect iconic numbers from the classic 1971 film such as “Pure Imagination”, “The Candy Man”, and “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket”, alongside original music by Grammy and Tony Award-winning duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Mary Poppins Returns).

The production reimagines Roald Dahl’s timeless tale, following young Charlie Bucket on his golden-ticket adventure through Willy Wonka’s fantastical chocolate factory. From rivers of chocolate to nut-sorting squirrels and the mischievous Oompa-Loompas, the musical promises a theatrical feast for all ages.

Since its Broadway debut in 2017, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has played over 300 performances, toured North America for four years, and delighted audiences on London’s West End, where it earned two Olivier Awards. The Singapore run will showcase the work of an award-winning creative team, including direction by Matt Lenz, choreography by Alison Solomon, and scenic and costume design by Mark Thompson.
