Singapore Oceanarium Makes a Splash with Grand Opening and SG60 Celebrations

Resorts World Sentosa officially unveiled the Singapore Oceanarium on 23 July 2025, marking a new era of marine discovery and conservation in Southeast Asia. Graced by Minister Grace Fu, along with key leaders from Genting Singapore, RWS, and other government agencies, the opening celebrates the Oceanarium’s vision as Asia’s leading aquarium-based conservation institution.

The launch ceremony featured a kaleidoscope of ocean-themed festivities, including a lively Buggy Parade of Marine Mobiles—playful vehicles inspired by sea creatures, and a heartfelt poetry jam performed by young ocean advocates. Guests were the first to journey through the oceanarium’s interactive zones, blending immersive exhibits, research-driven installations, and hands-on experiences that champion marine sustainability.

A symbolic moment unfolded as dignitaries activated the LED entrance arch with a touch, signifying a unified commitment to ocean conservation. Ms. Lee Shi Ruh, CEO of RWS, then led Minister Grace Fu and other guests on the first official walkthrough of the marine sanctuary.

Singapore Oceanarium is part of RWS’s ambitious S.8 billion expansion, reinforcing Singapore’s appeal as a global destination. It’s designed not just as an attraction, but as an educational platform to spark deeper understanding and care for our oceans.

As part of the SG60 celebrations, the Oceanarium is also participating in the National Day Parade with a whimsical water-themed float. The float’s concept was created by Aliyya Qisya, a talented young neurodivergent artist, brought to life with mentorship from artist Aida Sa’ad and support from Superhero Me and the NDP team.

Adding to the SG60 tribute is the Ties That Bind photo gallery, an evocative visual installation by renowned Singaporean photographers Toh Xing Jie and Michael Aw. Located in the Spirit of Exploration zone, the gallery explores the delicate interconnections of ocean life and showcases native marine species found in Singapore’s waters.

Singapore Oceanarium officially opens its doors to the public on 24 July 2025. Tickets are available now here. Visitors are encouraged to book early to be part of the opening festivities and to discover the exciting lineup of exhibitions, workshops, and conservation talks ahead.
