Singtel and Lendlease have officially broken ground on the new S$3 billion Comcentre redevelopment—set to become Singapore’s first fully carbon-neutral commercial development from design and construction through to operations.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held today and attended by Minister for National Development Mr. Chee Hong Tat, marked the start of a transformative project in the heart of Orchard Road. This iconic precinct—known for its vibrant retail and entertainment offerings—has long lacked premium office space, making the new Comcentre a much-anticipated addition.
A joint effort by Singtel and Lendlease, the development will redefine the modern workplace. Singtel, both co-developer and anchor tenant, is embedding cutting-edge digital infrastructure into the project, including ultra-fast 5G+ connectivity. A dedicated 5G+ network slice will support seamless connectivity and robust digital security, providing a critical platform for smart systems, AI-driven innovations, and future-ready retail and workspaces.
“The new Comcentre is not just a building—it’s a vision of the future,” said a Singtel spokesperson. “It’s where technology, sustainability, and innovation converge to empower a new generation of businesses.”
The site will boast AI-enabled robotics, adaptive smart building systems, and advanced digital tools designed to enhance operations and tenant experience. As part of the redevelopment, Lendlease will deliver integrated development, construction, and asset management services, while Singtel leverages its digital and tech expertise to shape the project’s technological backbone.
The Comcentre project aims to achieve an unprecedented “Triple Certification” for sustainability:
Designed by acclaimed New York firm Kohn Pedersen Fox, with landscaping by Field Operations, the development will span over 110,000 square metres of gross floor area. It will feature two 20-storey towers of premium Grade A office space connected by an expansive, sheltered arcade and vibrant public areas.
Highlights include:
The building is also expected to become Singapore’s first high-rise commercial structure to receive the ILFI Zero Carbon certification, one of the most stringent global benchmarks for sustainable design.
Construction will utilize Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD) and advanced building methods to streamline workflows, reduce on-site labour by up to 30%, and speed up completion time by approximately 20%.
Slated for completion in 2028, the new Comcentre is not just shaping up to be a world-class workplace.
